Description

The present invention relates to a signaling light for motor vehicles.

The invention relates to lights comprising, a reflector with an incandescent lamp and the front face of which is closed by a translucent diffuser.

In general, in the signaling lights which are intended to constitute either the side lights or the rear lights, or even the direction change indicators or the reversing lights, prisms are provided on the reflector. These prisms, seen from the outside, are unsightly.

The prior art knows German Patent No. 1,034,954 which includes a parabolic reflector having, on its surface, large convex waves, the reflector being closed by a window having, on its internal face, small projections.

Such a fire has various drawbacks. Indeed, the waves are visible from the outside which is unsightly, moreover the light does not present, when lit, a luminous homogeneity, this is due to the fact that the projections are small and separated from each other by flat areas so that, if at the level of the projections the rays are concentrated in the flat areas these are diffused in all directions, this effect being further increased by the large dimension of the waves with respect to the projections.

One of the aims of the invention is to produce a light which makes it possible to obtain a regular density of lighting and which, seen from the outside, is aesthetic.

The light, object of the present invention, is of the type comprising a reflector with reliefs on its surface, an incandescent lamp and a translucent diffuser closing the front face of the reflector and the face of which, facing the reflector, is provided with lenses, said light being characterized in that the reliefs of the reflector are formed by a series of parallel ridges having a width of the order of 0.5 mm, while the lenses of the diffuser are formed by a series of contiguous parallel cylindrical lenses having dimensions larger than those of the ridges and extending in a direction orthogonal to the ridges.

Thanks to such an arrangement, seen from the outside, the reflector seems without relief which is more harmonious. Thus, the reflector is diffusing and associated with the diffuser whose cylindrical lenses are contiguous to each other, a perfectly regular beam is obtained.

According to a particular embodiment, the ridges are formed by stepped grooves.

According to an alternative embodiment, the ridges are formed by grooves with convex radii.

According to yet another alternative embodiment, the ridges are formed by grooves with concave radii.

Les stries peuvent présenter des facettes. The streaks may have facets.

De préférence, le pas des lentilles est de l'ordre de 6mm.Preferably, the pitch of the lenses is of the order of 6mm.

The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to particular embodiments given by way of example only and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 est une vue en coupe horizontale suivant la ligne 1-1 de la figure 2.Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional view along line 1-1 of Figure 2.

Figure 2 est une vue en coupe suivant la ligne 2-2 de la figure 1.Figure 2 is a sectional view along line 2-2 of Figure 1.

Figure 3, Figure 4 and Figure 5 are sectional views on a larger scale showing the internal surface of the diffusing reflector.

Figures 3A, 4A and 5A show, in perspective, the streak facets of Figures 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

The signaling light shown in the figures comprises a diffusing reflector 1 in the central part of which is housed a lamp 2 mounted in a socket 3 and connected in a known manner to contacts inserted on a suitable electrical circuit.

These ridges can be stepped as shown in FIG. 3 and have facets 4a.

Les stries 4 peuvent être à rayons convexes (voir figure 4) et présenter des facettes 4a (voir figure 4A).The streaks 4 may have convex radii (see FIG. 4) and have facets 4a (see FIG. 4A).

The front part of the reflector 1 is closed by a diffuser 5, preferably colored and which has, on its internal surface, facing the reflector, a series of parallel cylindrical lenses 7.

De telles lentilles peuvent avoir un pas de 6mm.These lenses are attached to each other without leaving any space between them. Such lenses can have a pitch of 6mm.

Thus, the streaks are very small compared to the lenses which improves the desired effect.

As seen in Figures 1 and 2, the cylindrical lenses 7 extend in a direction orthogonal to the ridges 4, the latter having a width of about 0.5mm.

Thanks to this arrangement, the diffusing reflector, seen from the outside, gives the impression of a continuous surface and homogeneous lighting is obtained in a determined volume, the illumination density being practically constant in the volume considered.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments which have just been described and shown. Many detailed modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.
