Abstract

The shoe has an elastic heel cap on the outside of the upper. The cap (3) is formed by a frame or mesh of hard resilient material. It pref. has an enclosed frame (10) whose aperture is filled with flexible non-elastic material fixed to it, typically in the form of a net (13) or webbing, embedded in a layer of flexible plastics. There can be a single aperture extending right round the heel and forwards on both sides of it.
