Description

Process for the production of stones, slabs and other bodies from a mixture of plaster of paris and sand. Artificial stone masses containing gypsum are known represented by burning plaster of paris with the addition of various substances Lets water set. The plasterboards and boards are of particular importance. They consist of a stucco plaster mass with inlay of reeds, bamboo, slats and the like, which, without having entered into any chemical reaction, in the gypsum mass are stored unchanged. As a result of the large porosity of these plates and the The water-solubility of the stucco plaster is such plaster of paris against moisture carefully protect what is usually done by a tar paint.

The present new process provides plaster of paris bodies that can be removed without any special Protective agents against moisture can be used anywhere and are characterized by their strength distinguish.

According to the invention, plaster of paris is mixed with sand after grinding. The mass is then brought into a hardening kettle after it has been formed, where the molding exposed to water vapor under pressure. This is in addition to the usual setting of the plaster of paris causes a breakdown of the silica of the sand grain surface, with which a compound with the lime of the gypsum is linked to calcium silicate. While So far, a small addition of sand has already reduced the strength of the gypsum one according to the new process as a result of the chemical effects between the plaster of paris and the sand gypsum body of considerable strength. It comes both as plaster of paris screed plaster is also an option. The pressure of the hardening steam can be up to that in the sand-lime brick industry usual height can be increased.

It has also been found that mixtures of plaster of paris, sand and lime are excellent Bodies deliver when subjected to such treatment.

Instead of the mixture of plaster of paris and sand, there is still that after the procedure of the patent 3648o4 obtained from plaster of paris and sand can be used. In this case it is also possible to have an excess of undecomposed gypsum prevail. Furthermore, it is advisable to grind the material to be fired before further processing. It then, in addition to the hardening effect of the plaster of paris, that of the fired one comes as well Lime or calcium silicate that has already formed.

It has also been found advantageous to apply the mixtures prior to molding to add a weak water glass solution.

Other additives are coal ash and certain chlorides, such as magnesium chloride, advantageous.

Verwendet man andere Stoffe, z. The new plaster of paris bodies can be provided with inlays made of Silica-containing grasses, such as sedge grasses, reed species and the like. Used one other substances, z. B. coconut fibers, the silica content is produced artificially, by soaking them with a glass of water. The deposits are made of the gypsum-sand mixture added during molding and the bodies thus obtained in the same way as above specified, treated. As a result the digestion of the silica, which is contained in the deposits, is an intimate budding of the deposits with of the surrounding mass, which gives the plaster of paris a particularly solid Preserve the structure.

In this way, the inventor succeeded in working out of plaster of paris and sand directly to make useless bodies. The magnitude of the progress associated therewith lies but in the many uses of this body, firstly because it is light and, secondly, withstand all weather conditions without any further treatment.
