Abstract

Medical self-expanding occlusion instrument (1) comprises a network of thin threads (10) made from a shape memory polymer composition so that the network deforms from a temporary shape to a permanent shape under the action of an external stimulus. The temporary shape lies in the first shape of the network and the permanent shape lies in the second shape of the network. Preferred Features: The external stimulus is a fixed switching temperature, preferably lying between room temperature and the body temperature of the patient.
