A method of automatically activating a merging assistance system of a vehicle based on driver behavior is disclosed. Background
In order to improve the safety of the running of the vehicle, a parallel line auxiliary system is generally installed on the vehicle. As shown in fig. 2, the method 200 begins at step S210. For example, the warning unit 330 may perform the warning of the first level when it is monitored by the lane change monitoring unit 320 that the driver turns on the left/right turn lamp of the vehicle and the information on the distance to the vehicle in the surrounding lane, which is acquired by the distance information acquisition unit 310, indicates that the distance to the vehicle laterally behind in the surrounding lane is less than, for example, 100 meters and greater than 50 meters. It should be understood that the specific values of the first and second distances herein are merely exemplary and not limiting. The specific values of the first distance and the second distance may be changed according to actual requirements.
In some embodiments, the first level of alert may include, for example, broadcasting a preset alert via a voice system within the vehicle. For example, a prompt such as "there is a vehicle in the surrounding lane, please take precautions and line up" may be announced by a voice system in the vehicle to audibly alert the driver to the coming vehicle laterally behind. Additionally, in some embodiments, the first level of alerting may also include displaying an early warning image through a display screen inside the vehicle, for example. For example, an early warning pattern such as an exclamation mark or a warning phrase such as "cautious merging" may be displayed through a display screen in the vehicle interior to visually alert the driver to the approach of the vehicle laterally behind. It should be understood that the manner and content of voice broadcasting and the manner and content of display described above are exemplary only and not limiting. The manner and content of the voice broadcast by the voice system in the vehicle and the manner and content of the display by the display screen in the vehicle may be changed as needed as long as the driver can be timely reminded of the coming vehicle at the rear side by the voice broadcast or display.
In some embodiments, for example, in a case where the lane change operation monitoring unit 320 monitors that the driver has the lane change operation described above and the information on the distance to the vehicle in the surrounding lane acquired by the distance information acquisition unit 310 indicates that the distance to the vehicle laterally rearward in the surrounding lane is smaller than the second distance, the warning unit 330 may perform the warning of the second level. For example, the warning unit 330 may perform the warning of the second level when it is monitored by the lane change monitoring unit 320 that the driver turns on the left/right turn lamp of the vehicle and the information on the distance to the vehicle in the surrounding lane, which is acquired by the distance information acquisition unit 310, indicates that the distance to the vehicle laterally behind in the surrounding lane is less than, for example, 50 meters.
In some embodiments, the second level of warning may include, for example, increasing the resistance to rotation of the steering wheel, which may make it difficult for the driver to turn the steering wheel, thereby alerting the driver to a laterally rearward drive-in by tactile sensation. In addition, the second level of warning may also include, for example, providing vibrations to the seat belt or steering wheel, similar to that described above, to alert the driver to a laterally rearward drive-in by touch. It should be understood that the above examples of the second level of alerting are merely illustrative and not limiting. Since the second level of warning alerts the driver to notice the laterally rearward vehicle, rather than audibly and/or visually, the second level of warning is more direct and more quickly noticeable to the driver than the first level of warning described above, and is thus more suitable for use in situations where the distance from the laterally rearward vehicle in the surrounding lane is relatively close.
In some embodiments, while the second level of alerting is being performed, the first level of alerting may be performed, for example, simultaneously. For example, while increasing the turning resistance of the steering wheel, a preset prompt can be broadcast by a voice system inside the vehicle, so that the driver is reminded of the coming vehicle at the rear side on both the auditory sense and the tactile sense.
In some embodiments, the first distance and the second distance described above may be automatically adjusted based on a current travel speed of the vehicle. For example, when the running speed of the vehicle is fast (e.g., 100 km/h), the distance between the vehicles should be kept, for example, greater than 100 meters. Therefore, at this time, the first distance may be adjusted to 100 meters and the second distance may be adjusted to 50 meters. In addition, for example, when the running speed of the vehicle is slow (for example, 60 km/h), the distance between the vehicles should be kept, for example, greater than 60 meters. Therefore, at this time, the first distance may be adjusted to 60 meters and the second distance may be adjusted to 30 meters. It should be understood that the above examples are illustrative only and not limiting. Different adjustments can be made according to actual vehicle travel speed and/or actual demand so that the driver can be timely reminded of coming vehicles at the rear side.
With the method 400 described above, it is possible to perform different levels of warning based on information about the distance from the vehicle in the surrounding lane in the event that it is monitored that there is a lane change operation by the driver. By this method, the driver can be timely reminded of the coming vehicle at the rear side according to the distance from the vehicle in the surrounding lane. For example, when the distance from the vehicle in the surrounding lane is large, the driver may be alerted to the coming vehicle in the rear side by means of a voice broadcast and/or a warning image display or the like in a gentle manner. For example, when the distance from the vehicle in the surrounding lane is short, the driver may be alerted to the incoming vehicle in the rear side by increasing the steering wheel rotation resistance and/or providing vibrations to the seat belt or steering wheel, or the like in a more intense manner. By the method 400, the driver can be timely reminded of the coming vehicles at the rear side, so that the driver can carefully perform lane changing operation, the collision of the vehicles is avoided as much as possible, and the driving safety of the vehicles is improved.
In addition to the above-described methods 200 and 400, the method according to the present disclosure may further include determining whether a voice instruction indicating steering is recognized through a voice system or the like such as the inside of the vehicle in the case where it is determined by the determination unit 130 that the driver does not have the preset behavior as described above. For example, in the case where it is determined that a voice instruction indicating steering is recognized by a voice system or the like such as the inside of the vehicle, the system start unit 140 automatically starts the merging auxiliary system of the vehicle. In some embodiments, the above-described operation regarding determining whether a voice instruction indicating steering is recognized through a voice system such as the inside of a vehicle or the like may be performed by the determination unit 130 or other processing unit. The above-described voice instruction indicating the steering may be, for example, a sound such as "left-side-by-side"/"right-side-by-side" issued by the occupant indicating the steering.
As described above, the present disclosure provides a system and method for automatically starting a merging assist system of a vehicle based on a driver's behavior. By using the system and method according to the present disclosure, the merging aid system of the vehicle can be automatically started based on the driver's behavior, i.e. -the merging aid system of the vehicle can be automatically started according to the actual lane change demand of the driver, irrespective of the driving speed of the vehicle. Therefore, unlike the conventional method of starting the parallel assist system, even if the running speed of the vehicle does not exceed the preset prescribed speed, the parallel assist system of the vehicle is automatically started whenever the driver has the preset behavior as described above, so that the driver can be timely reminded of the coming vehicle from the rear side, so that the driver can carefully perform the lane change operation, thereby avoiding the collision of the vehicle as much as possible, and improving the running safety of the vehicle. Further, by using the system and method according to the present disclosure, it is possible to perform different levels of warning based on information about the distance from the vehicle in the surrounding lane in the case where it is monitored that there is a lane change operation by the driver. Therefore, the driver can be timely reminded of the coming vehicles at the rear side according to the distance from the vehicles in the surrounding lanes, so that the driver can carefully perform lane changing operation, the vehicles are prevented from being collided as much as possible, and the driving safety of the vehicles is further improved.
Hardware implementation
Fig. 5 illustrates a general hardware environment 500 in which the present disclosure may be applied, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure.
With reference to fig. 5, a computing device 500 will now be described as an example of a hardware device applicable to aspects of the present disclosure. Computing device 500 may be any machine configured to perform processes and/or calculations and may be, but is not limited to, a workstation, a server, a desktop computer, a laptop computer, a tablet computer, a personal digital assistant, a smart phone, a portable camera, or any combination thereof. The system 100 described above may be implemented in whole or at least in part by a computing device 500 or similar device or system.
Computing device 500 may include elements capable of connecting with bus 502 or communicating with bus 502 via one or more interfaces. For example, computing device 500 may include a bus 502, one or more processors 504, one or more input devices 506, and one or more output devices 508. The one or more processors 504 may be any type of processor and may include, but are not limited to, one or more general purpose processors and/or one or more special purpose processors (such as special purpose processing chips). Input device 506 may be any type of device capable of inputting information to a computing device and may include, but is not limited to, a mouse, keyboard, touch screen, microphone, and/or remote control. Output device 508 may be any type of device capable of presenting information and may include, but is not limited to, a display, speakers, video/audio output terminals, and/or a printer. Computing device 500 may also include a non-transitory storage device 510 or any storage device that is connected to non-transitory storage device 510, non-transitory storage device 510 may be non-transitory and may implement a data store, and may include, but is not limited to, a disk drive, an optical storage device, a solid state storage, a floppy disk, a flexible disk, a hard disk, a magnetic tape, or any other magnetic medium, a compact disk or any other optical medium, ROM (read only memory), RAM (random access memory), cache memory, and/or any other memory chip or cartridge, and/or any other medium from which a computer may read data, instructions, and/or code. The non-transitory storage device 510 may be detachable from the interface. The non-transitory storage device 510 may have data/instructions/code for implementing the methods and steps described above. Computing device 500 may also include communication device 512. The communication device 512 may be any type of device or system capable of communicating with external apparatus and/or with a network and may include, but is not limited to, modems, network cards, infrared communication devices, wireless communication equipment, and/or chipsets such as bluetooth (TM) devices, 502.11 devices, wiFi devices, wiMax devices, cellular communication facilities, and the like.
Bus 502 can include, but is not limited to, an Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus, a Micro Channel Architecture (MCA) bus, an Enhanced ISA (EISA) bus, a Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) local bus, and a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bus.
Computing device 500 may also include a working memory 514, where working memory 514 may be any type of working memory that may store instructions and/or data useful for the operation of processor 504 and may include, but is not limited to, random access memory and/or read-only memory devices.
Software elements may reside in a working memory 514 including, but not limited to, an operating system 516, one or more application programs 518, drivers, and/or other data and code. Instructions for performing the above-described methods and steps may be included in one or more applications 518, and the above-described system 100 may be implemented by one or more processors 504 reading and executing the instructions of one or more applications 518. More specifically, the face image capturing unit 110 may be implemented, for example, by the processor 504 when executing the application 518 having instructions to perform step S210. The facial image analysis unit 120 may be implemented, for example, by the processor 504 when executing the application 518 having instructions to perform step S220. The determination unit 130 may be implemented, for example, by the processor 504 when executing the application 518 having instructions to perform step S230. The system start-up unit 140 may be implemented, for example, by the processor 504 when executing the application 518 with instructions to perform step S240. The distance information acquiring unit 310 may be implemented, for example, by the processor 504 when executing the application 518 having instructions to perform step S410. The lane change operation monitoring unit 320 may be implemented, for example, by the processor 504 when executing the application 518 having instructions to perform step S420. The alarm unit 330 may be implemented, for example, by the processor 504 when executing an application 518 having instructions to perform step S430. Executable code or source code of instructions of the software elements may be stored in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, such as the storage device(s) 510 described above, and may be read into the working memory 514, possibly compiled and/or installed. Executable code or source code for the instructions of the software elements may also be downloaded from a remote location.
From the above embodiments, it is apparent to those skilled in the art that the present disclosure may be implemented by software and necessary hardware, or may be implemented by hardware, firmware, etc. Based on this understanding, embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented, in part, in software. The computer software may be stored in a computer program and/or a computer readable storage medium, such as a floppy disk, hard disk, optical disk, or flash memory. The computer software includes a series of instructions that cause a computer (e.g., a personal computer, a service station, or a network terminal) to perform a method according to various embodiments of the present disclosure, or a portion thereof.
Having thus described the present disclosure, it is clear that the present disclosure can be varied in a number of ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.

Claims (14)

1. A method for automatically activating a merging assistance system of a vehicle based on a driver's behavior, the method comprising:
capturing a face image of a driver in real time by a camera installed inside the vehicle;
analyzing the captured facial image of the driver to obtain information related to facial features of the driver;
judging whether a driver has preset behaviors or not based on the acquired information related to the facial features of the driver; and
and automatically starting a parallel assistance system of the vehicle to carry out warning notification when the driver is judged to have preset behaviors.
2. The method according to claim 1, wherein determining whether the driver has a preset behavior based on the acquired information related to the facial features of the driver comprises:
based on the acquired information related to the facial features of the driver, it is determined whether or not the duration of the driver's viewing of the outside rear view mirror reaches a predetermined threshold, and
wherein the merging assist system of the vehicle is automatically started in a case where it is determined that the duration of time for which the driver views the outside rear view mirror reaches the predetermined threshold value.
3. The method according to claim 2, wherein determining whether the driver has a preset behavior based on the acquired information related to the facial features of the driver further comprises:
based on the acquired information related to the facial features of the driver, it is determined whether or not the following situation exists: the duration of the driver's view of the exterior mirror does not reach the predetermined threshold, and during a period of time the frequency of the driver's view of the exterior mirror reaches another predetermined threshold, and
wherein, in case it is determined that the situation exists, the merging auxiliary system of the vehicle is automatically started.
4. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the acquired information relating to the facial features of the driver comprises one or more of: the position and/or orientation of the driver's head, the position and/or orientation of the driver's eyes, the rotational speed and/or rotational frequency of the driver's head, the speed and/or frequency of movement of the driver's eyes, and the position and/or size of the driver's pupils.
5. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 3, further comprising:
acquiring information about a distance from a vehicle in a surrounding lane;
monitoring whether a lane change operation exists by a driver; and
in the case where it is detected that there is a lane change operation by the driver, different levels of warning are performed based on the acquired information about the distance from the vehicle in the surrounding lane.
6. The method of claim 5, wherein performing different levels of alerting based on the acquired information about the distance to the vehicle in the surrounding lane in the event that a lane change operation of the driver is monitored comprises:
in the case where it is detected that there is a lane change operation by the driver and the acquired information on the distance to the vehicle in the surrounding lane indicates that the distance to the vehicle laterally rearward in the surrounding lane is smaller than the first distance and larger than the second distance, an alarm of the first level is performed, and
when it is detected that there is a lane change operation by the driver and the acquired information on the distance to the vehicle in the surrounding lane indicates that the distance to the vehicle laterally rearward in the surrounding lane is smaller than the second distance, a second level of warning is performed,
wherein the first distance is greater than the second distance.
7. The method of claim 6, wherein,
the first-level warning comprises broadcasting a preset prompt through a voice system in the vehicle and/or displaying an early warning image through a display screen in the vehicle, and
the second level of warning includes increasing the rotational resistance of the steering wheel and/or providing vibrations to the seat belt or steering wheel.
8. The method of claim 5, wherein the lane-change operation comprises turning on a turn light of a vehicle and/or issuing a voice command indicating a turn.
9. The method of claim 6, wherein,
the first distance and the second distance are automatically adjusted based on a current travel speed of the vehicle.
10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
judging whether a voice instruction for indicating steering is recognized through a voice system in the vehicle or not under the condition that the driver does not have the preset behavior; and
if it is determined that a voice command indicating steering is recognized by a voice system inside the vehicle, a parallel assist system of the vehicle is automatically started.
11. A system for automatically activating a merging assistance system of a vehicle based on driver behavior, comprising:
means for performing the method according to any one of claims 1-10.
12. An apparatus for automatically starting a parallel assistance system of a vehicle based on a driver's behavior, comprising
At least one processor; and
at least one storage device storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform the method of any of claims 1-10.
13. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processor, cause performance of the method recited in any one of claims 1-10.
14. A program product storing a program which when executed by a processor causes the method according to any one of claims 1-10 to be performed.
