Description
Cliché for autotype printing. When examining the autotype under the microscope, one finds that the individual points resulting from the grid appear more or less gray in the middle with a black outline. This is because the tip pressure squeezes the paint and builds up around the tips. The consequence is that an excess of color is necessary to achieve the desired color effect. On the one hand, this has the disadvantage that the color gets into the gaps in the grid and causes an unclean print.
The present invention remedies these disadvantages of the autotype in that the halftone dots of the clichés each receive at least a cavity which absorbs the color and releases it during printing in such a way that the dot is more perfect when printed.
To generate such autotype clichés, two grid systems can be layered one on top of the other, in which the line spacing of one system is a multiple of the other.
On the drawing is shown in Fig. 1 represents how an autotype print looks under the microscope. Fig. 2 shows the grid points in an embodiment of an autotype cliché according to the invention; 3 is a cross section through this autotype cliché; Figures 4 and 5 show, for example, two grid systems which are stacked on top of one another in the manufacture of the new panel.
The hollowed out tips are expediently obtained by first providing the zinc plate with dots corresponding to the fine grid by photographic or other means and then slightly etching them. The plate is then made sensitive to light again and the printed image with the coarser of the two rasters is copied onto it in such a way that when the plate is etched, the raster points are created precisely where there are small depressions. The latter then serve to absorb the color during printing.
