Abstract
The case includes a glass, a base and a casing to which the glass and the base are fitted. Waterproof linings are sandwiched between them. The glass and the base are maintained in position by four horns of the braclet attachment. The horns are connected in pairs by cross pieces which follow the curvature of the watch and locate in grooves in the casing where they are held in place by screws. The horns are U-shaped in sympathy with the glass and base so that as they are screwed into position they exert a clamping action on the glass and base. The glass may be enclosed in metal and the base is transparent or opaque. The watch may be round or square. ADVANTAGE - Bracelet fixings are separate from watch.
Description
DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a waterproof wristwatch box comprising a middle part pinched between a base and a crystal.
The object of the invention is to provide a watch whose cost of manufacturing the case is lowered thanks to the fact that the strap fastening members did not come in one piece with the case body, which facilitates the manufacturing of it. In addition, the means for fixing these bracelt attachment members also serve to ensure the assembly of the elements of the box.
This object is achieved by the means defined in claim 1.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention and a variant.
Fig. 1 is a plan view, with part broken away and part exploded, of a watch case.
Fig. 2 is a section of a detail of this watch case, on an enlarged scale, along the line II - II of FIG. 1 and
Fig. 3 is a plan view, similar to that of FIG. 1, of a variant of the watch case.
The watch case shown in figs. 1 and 2, round, comprises a middle part 1 having two annular cuffs 1a and 1b, a crystal 2 provided with an annular rim 2a engaged on the cuff 1a of the middle part and a bottom 3 having an annular rim 3a engaged on the cuff lb of the middle. Two seals 4 and 5, acting radially; are interposed respectively between the cuff 1a and the rim 2a of the glass 2 and between the cuff 1b and the rim 3a of the bottom 3.
It should be noted that the bottom 3 is made of transparent material, and that it is practically identical to the crystal 2, so that the watch movement housed in the box will thus be visible. The bottom could however be made of a different material, for example brass or steel.
The crystal 2 and the bottom 3 are held in place on the middle part 1 by means of four claws 6 forming the four attachment horns of a bracelet, not shown, which are connected, in pairs, by crosspieces 7, in an arc of a circle, engaging in clearances 8 of the middle part 1. The two bars 7 are each crossed by two screws 9, located in the plane of the box, taking in the middle part 1.
The claws 6 each have a U-shaped profile, the two branches 6a and 6b each having a bearing surface 10, respectively 11, inclined relative to the plane of the box, cooperating with a bearing surface 12 of the glass 2 and with a bearing surface 13 of the bottom 3, respectively, to exert on these two elements an axial force applying them against the middle part 1. The line in phantom 12 'of FIG. 2 indicates a variant in which the surfaces of the glass with which the claws cooperate would be convex.
It should be noted that the glass, coming from a room with its rim, in this embodiment, could be added in a metal bezel having the same external shape as the glass in one piece.
The variant of fig. 3 differs from the first embodiment by the general shape of the box, which is rectangular. As for the rest, the construction is similar to that of the first embodiment, the glass, designated by 14, and the bottom, designated by 15, being applied axially against the middle, designated by 16, by claws 17, connected in pairs by crosspieces 18, forming the hooking horns of the bracelet, and which are pressed laterally against the elements with which they cooperate by screws 19 situated in the plane of the case and engaging in the middle part 16.
It should be noted that the box may have only one element - glass or base - held assembled to the middle by claws, the other element having come in one piece with the middle, which will constitute either an ice-cap , or a bottom cap, in the case of a part of the so-called monobloc type.
