Abstract

A radial press for essentially cylindrical workpieces comprises rams (2) which slide in radial guides (1) and have cheek plates (3) on their radially inner ends. Each radial guide (1) is formed by guide blocks (11) arranged between two rams (2) and rigidly connected to support rings (12) arranged on the front face. The support rings (12) are surrounded by a concentric pressure ring (5) which can be twisted relative to the support rings (12). The ram (12) is thrust forward by an articulated lever (4) connected to the rams (2) by bed bolts (8) and to the pressure ring (5) by bed bolts (9). A machine frame (35) is rigidly connected to the support rings (12). A hydraulic cylinder (36) which engages in a bearing eye (40) of the pressure ring twists the pressure ring (5) with respect to the support rings (12), thereby imparting a to-and-fro movement to the rams (2) together with the cheek plates (3).
