Description
Building panel or building panel set, fastening system for a building panel, and method for fastening a building panel s Field of the Invention The invention relates to a building panel or a building panel set, for installation on a wall or ceiling. This disclosure also relates to a fastening system for a building panel or a building panel set, use of a fastening system, and a method for fastening -o a building panel. Background of the Invention Building panels equipped with holes, in particular for sound absorption, are known in the prior art. "Sound absorption" is normally understood to mean the reduction of sound energy in a Ls space. Sound absorption is the loss of sound energy upon contact with delimiting surfaces, objects or people located in a space. The loss is produced predominantly by the conversion of sound into heat (dissipation). The degree of sound absorption can be increased by the use of holes in the respective sound absorption 20 element, such as in a ceiling, a floor or a wall panel. The building panels are normally installed by being screwed to a ceiling or to a wall or corresponding sub-structures, for example formed from profiled parts. The screws are arranged (centrally) in a web region between the holes. The screw heads 25 are then filled using a trowel for example and are then sanded flat (after drying). Painting is then carried out if desired. On the whole, the installation process has been found to be relatively complex. In addition, the reliability and safety of a fastening of this type is worthy of improvement in some 30 circumstances, in particular in the case of building panels which also act as fire ceilings and/or fire walls.
- 2 The object of the invention is to propose a building panel or a building panel set, a fastening system for a building panel, and a method for fastening a building panel, wherein the complexity of the installation process is reduced, preferably with simultaneous improvement of the reliability and safety of the fastening. Reference to any prior art in the specification is not, and should not be taken as, an acknowledgment, or any form of suggestion, that this prior art forms part of the common general knowledge in Australia or any other jurisdiction or that this prior art could reasonably be expected to be ascertained, understood and regarded as relevant by a person skilled in the art. Summary of the Invention In a first aspect, the present invention provides a building panel or a building panel set, for installation on a wall or ceiling, said building panel or building panel set having a gypsum perforated panel, wherein the gypsum perforated panel has a multiplicity of holes, which have a predetermined geometry, and which extend from a front side to a rear side through the gypsum perforated panel, wherein a separate fastening device is provided and is connected/can be connected to the gypsum perforated panel, is arranged/can be arranged within a hole, at least in part, and/or so as to cover at least one hole, at least in part, and is designed to receive a fastening means within the at least one hole, at least in part, so that the gypsum perforated panel can thus be installed on a wall or ceiling, and so that a head of the fastening means adjoins a front-side end of the fastening device or is recessed with the fastening device. "Separate" can be understood to mean that the fastening device is initially provided spatially separated from WO 2011/134506 - 3 - PCT/EP2010/055721 the gypsum panel. The fastening device may also be connected already to the gypsum panel however, wherein "separate" then means that the fastening device is a component independent of the gypsum panel. The building 5 panel may preferably already be prepared by the manufacturer as a unit formed from at least a gypsum panel and a fastening device. However, the building panel may also be provided as a building panel set, wherein the gypsum panel and the fastening device are 10 preferably connected on-site. A fundamental aspect lies in the fact that the fastening device is provided, at least partially, within or in the region of a hole, so that a suitable 15 fastening means can be received within the hole or within the region adjacent to the hole so as to fasten the building panel. The holes, which in principle have a different function, such as a sound-absorbing function, are thus integrated into the fastening at the 20 same time. There is thus no need to drill any holes on site in order to fasten the building panel to the wall or ceiling. Filling and sanding once the building panel has been fastened can be omitted. If the fastening means are arranged within the holes, a more 25 satisfactory aesthetic appearance can be achieved on the whole. Furthermore, the risk of the installer carrying out an installation process that is inadequate in terms of reliability and safety is reduced, thus increasing reliability and safety, in particular in the 30 event of a fire. The fastening device can be formed in one part or may consist of a plurality of parts. 35 The fastening device can preferably be fitted or is pressed/can be pressed into at least one hole, at least in part. This facilitates the installation process.
WO 2011/134506 - 4 - PCT/EP2010/055721 In a preferred embodiment, the fastening device is connected/can be connected to the perforated panel in at least one web region. This is preferably carried out already by the manufacturer, in particular using an 5 adhesive connection and/or a stapled connection. The panel can be fastened to the ceiling or wall using a suitable fastening means, such as a screw. The fastening device may preferably be arranged (substantially) on a rear side of the gypsum panel. The 10 complexity of the installation process is reduced on the whole. "Rear side" is to be understood hereinafter to mean the side of the building panel or gypsum panel remote from 15 the space when installed. Accordingly, "front side" is understood to mean the side of the building panel/gypsum panel facing the space when installed. It is particularly preferred if the fastening device is 20 already provided by the manufacturer. This reduces the complexity of the installation process, and in particular reduces the time required for installation on-site. 25 In one specific embodiment, the fastening device has at least one sleeve with a preferably round, in particular circular, oval or rectangular, outer cross section and/or with an outer cross section preferably adapted to the cross section of the hole so as to receive 30 fastening means that are round in cross section, wherein the sleeve, when installed, preferably terminates flush with the surface of the building panel. In particular, "sleeve" can be understood to mean a hollow cylindrical body having an outer and 35 inner cylinder face. For example, a "sleeve" may also have an inner cylinder face and, on the outer side, may have a cross sectional shape that is oval, rectangular or square for example, in particular if the gypsum WO 2011/134506 - 5 - PCT/EP2010/055721 panel likewise has holes of corresponding cross sectional shape. Sleeves of this type are easy to install (for example by being fitted in), wherein the material costs are comparatively low. The sleeve 5 terminates flush with the surface of the panel, thus improving safety and the overall aesthetic appearance as a result of the reduction of excess projections. The sleeve preferably has expansion elements, which, 10 when a fastening means that is round in cross section is introduced, expand in the direction of a wall of the at least one hole so as to connect the sleeve or the fastening means to the wall of the hole with a friction fit. The fastening process can be carried out easily 15 and quickly. In specific embodiments, the fastening device, in particular the sleeve, may be designed, at least in part, as an anchor, in particular as an expansion 20 anchor made for example of metal and/or plastic. This measure facilitates the complexity of the installation process. At its end remote from the ceiling or wall, the sleeve 25 may have an extension, in particular a collar-like extension, which preferably protrudes beyond the hole. The sleeve can thus be prevented from sliding through the corresponding hole toward the ceiling or wall, which increases the reliability of the fastening device 30 and reduces the complexity of the installation process. The fastening device preferably comprises at least one separate fastening perforated panel, and/or fastening strip, either with or without holes, which is 35 connected/can be connected to the perforated panel, in particular via staples, and which is preferably arranged/can be arranged in such a way that at least one fastening hole in the fastening perforated panel 1UU..Ld.b I -6 covers at least one hole in the perforated panel, wherein the at least one fastening hole has a smaller diameter than the at least one hole in the perforated panel. The fastening perforated panel or the fastening perforated strip may preferably be provided as a plate, at least in part. The fastening perforated panel or the fastening perforated strip is preferably arranged/can be arranged on the rear side of the gypsum panel. The perforated panel can then be easily fastened to the ceiling or wall via a suitable fastening means, such as a screw or a nail, which is engaged with the fastening hole. In particular if the fastening perforated panel is arranged on the rear side, the fastening means can be introduced deep (for example by at least 30 %, preferably 60 %, of the total depth of the hole) into the hole in the perforated panel so that it is virtually no longer visible. If the fastening perforated panel is designed in a strip-shaped manner, the sound transfer is thus relatively low, that is to say the degree of sound absorption is increased. A plurality of fastening perforated panels can also be provided, which only comprise a small number of holes, for example just one hole. The degree of sound absorption is also thus comparatively high. In a second aspect, the present invention provides a fastening system for a building panel or for a building panel set, for installation on a wall or ceiling, said building panel or building panel set having a gypsum perforated panel, comprising a multiplicity of holes, which have a predetermined geometry and which extend from a front side to a rear side through the gypsum perforated panel, said fastening system comprisinga fastening device which has at least one fastening hole and can be connected to the gypsum perforated panel, and a fastening means, which can be introduced into the fastening device to fasten the gypsum perforated panel to the ceiling and/or wall, or to a support assigned to the ceiling or wall so that a head of the fastening means adjoins a front-side end of the fastening device or is recessed within the fastening device. The fastening system - 7 has the advantages already described in conjunction with the building panel or the building panel set. Furthermore and similarly to the building panel or building panel set, the fastening system allows simple disassembly after installation of 5 the building panel, for example for inspection and maintenance works. Once the works have been completed, the building panel can be re-installed on the ceiling or wall with comparatively little effort. Furthermore and similarly to the building panel or building panel set, the fastening system LO allows easy installation of peripheral devices, such as lamps or the like. The fastening device may have at least one sleeve with an inner cylinder portion so as to receive fastening means that are round in cross section. Furthermore, the sleeve may have expansion L5 elements, which, when a fastening means that is round in cross section is introduced, expand in the direction of a wall of the at least one hole so as to connect the sleeve or the fastening means to the wall of the hole with a friction fit. The fastening device, in particular the sleeve, can be formed, at least in 20 part, as an anchor, in particular an expansion anchor made of metal or plastic for example. At its end remote from the ceiling or wall when installed, the sleeve may have an extension, in particular a collar-like extension, which preferably protrudes beyond the at least one hole. Furthermore, the fastening device 25 may comprise at least one separate fastening perforated panel, in particular a fastening perforated strip, which is connected to the perforated panel, in particular by stapling and/or by gluing, and which is arranged in such a way that at least one fastening hole in the fastening perforated panel covers at least 30 one hole in the perforated panel, wherein the at least one fastening hole has a smaller diameter than the at least one hole in the perforated panel.
- 8 One or more of the above-described problems may be ameliorated by the use of a fastening system of the above-described type for a building panel or a building panel set of the above-described type. 5 In a third aspect, the present invention provides a method for fastening a building panel, wherein the method comprises the following steps: a) providing a gypsum perforated panel comprising a multiplicity of holes, which have a predetermined LO geometry, and which extend from a front side to a rear side through the gypsum perforated panel, b) providing a separate fastening device, which is arranged within a hole, at least in part, and/or so as to cover at least one hole, at least in part, L5 c) connecting the fastening device to the gypsum perforated panel, and d) introducing a fastening means into the fastening device. The method basically has the same advantages as the above 20 described building panel or building panel set and the fastening system. The fastening device is preferably pressed or fitted into the at least one hole and/or connected fixedly to a web region of the perforated panel. A fastening device having at least one 25 separate fastening perforated panel, in particular a fastening perforated strip, is preferably provided, said fastening perforated panel or strip being connected to the perforated panel, in particular by stapling and/or adhesive bonding, and being arranged in such a way that at least one fastening hole in - 9 the fastening perforated panel covers at least one hole in the perforated panel, wherein the at least one fastening hole has a smaller diameter than the at least one hole. In a fourth aspect, the present invention provides a production 5 method for a building panel or a building panel set as defined in the first aspect of the invention, the production method comprising the following steps: a) providing the perforated panel comprising the multiplicity of holes having a predetermined geometry, .0 and which extend from the front side to the rear side through the perforated panel, b) providing the separate fastening device, which is arranged with the at least one hole, at least in part, and/or so as to cover the at least one hole, at least L5 in part, and c) connecting the fastening device to the gypsum perforated panel. In each of the aforedescribed aspects of the invention, the multiplicity of holes in the gypsum perforated panel preferably 20 have a round or rectangular cross-section. Preferably, the separate fastening device is made of metal and/or plastic. Also, the fastening means is preferably a screw and/or nail. Further embodiments will become clear from the dependent claims.
WO 2011/134506 - 10 - PCT/EP2010/055721 The invention will also be described hereinafter in terms of further features and advantages on the basis of exemplary embodiments, which will be explained in greater detail on the basis of the figures, in which: 5 Figure 1 shows a schematic illustration of a building panel from above; Figure 2 shows a schematic section along line II-II 10 from figure 1 in accordance with a first embodiment of the building panel; Figure 3 shows a schematic section along line II-II from figure 1 in accordance with a second 15 embodiment of the building panel; Figure 4 shows an enlarged detail from figure 3; and Figure 5 shows an alternative embodiment of the detail 20 according to figure 4. Like and functionally like parts will be denoted by like reference numerals in the following description. 25 Figure 1 shows in particular a sound-absorbing building panel in a view from above, wherein the viewing direction is directed perpendicular onto a front side 10 (which points inwardly or toward the space when installed) of the building panel. The building panel 30 comprises a gypsum perforated panel 12, which is connected to a fastening device 13 (see figures 2 to 5). In the present case, the gypsum perforated panel has a square basic shape and is formed substantially as a cuboid on the whole, wherein other basic shapes, such 35 as rectangular or generally quadrangular or round or elliptical shapes, may also be provided. Gypsum panel holes 14, which are round in cross section, are cylindrical in spatial terms, and extend from the front WO 2011/134506 - 11 - PCT/EP2010/055721 side 10 (see figure 2) to a rear side 11, are formed within the gypsum perforated panel 12. The gypsum panel holes 14 may also adopt any cross sectional shape and may adopt different shapes in spatial terms. For 5 example, the gypsum panel holes 14 may be square (generally rectangular) in cross section and, in spatial terms, may be cuboid and may taper for example from the front side 10 to the rear side 11 (or vice versa). 10 Figure 2 shows a schematic section along line II-II from figure 1 in accordance with a first embodiment of the building panel. In this case, the fastening device 13 comprises a fastening perforated panel 15, which is 15 designed specifically as a strip-shaped fastening panel and is connected to the gypsum perforated panel 12 via fastening means 16, which are merely suggested schematically in this case. The fastening means 16 may include staples, clamps, screws, glues, anchors and/or 20 nails for example. The fastening perforated panel 15 comprises fastening holes 17, which cover the gypsum panel holes 14 and have a smaller diameter (for example at least 10 % 25 smaller, preferably at least 30 % smaller, in particular at least 60 % smaller) than the gypsum panel holes. Suitable fastening means, such as screws or nails, can thus be guided through the fastening holes 17, and the fastening perforated panel 15, together 30 with the gypsum perforated panel 12, can thus be installed on a wall or ceiling (not shown), which adjoins the rear side 11 in an installed position. A head of the fastening means may then adjoin the fastening perforated panel 15 or the fastening holes 35 17, for example directly, and is thus introduced further inside the gypsum panel holes 14. In particular, this improves the sound absorption and the overall aesthetic appearance. However, not every gypsum WO 2011/134506 - 12 - PCT/EP2010/055721 panel hole 14 has to be assigned a fastening hole 17. Sound absorption is comparatively high if, for example, just 20 %, preferably less than 5 %, of the gypsum panel holes 14 are covered by the fastening perforated 5 panel 15. In an alternative (not illustrated), fastening panels without holes, for example in the form of plate strips, can be used instead of the shown fastening perforated 10 panel 15. A covering (not shown), for example a covering film, may also be arranged between the fastening perforated panel 15 and the gypsum perforated panel 12 so as to 15 reduce or impair the infiltration of dirt particles into the holes 14. The fastening means 16 may therefore perform two functions, namely fastening of the fastening perforated panel 15 to the gypsum perforated panel 12 on the one hand, and fixing of the covering 20 (not shown) on the other hand. A fastening means, at which the covering (not shown) is connected to the gypsum perforated panel 12, may be smaller than the total area on the rear side of the gypsum perforated panel minus the proportion of the area on said rear 25 side covered by the gypsum panel holes 14. An acoustic pulse contacting the gypsum perforated panel then leads to a partial lifting or vibration of the covering (not shown), not just in the region in which the holes are arranged, but also at least in an edge region that is 30 adjacent to the holes. Energy from the acoustic pulse can thus additionally be transferred to the gypsum panel or the covering, which is freely vibrating in regions, thus increasing the degree of sound absorption thereof. 35 Figure 3 shows a schematic section along line II-II from figure 1 in accordance with a second embodiment of the building panel. The fastening device 13 comprises WO 2011/134506 - 13 - PCT/EP2010/055721 sleeves 18, which rest against walls 19 of the gypsum panel holes 14. Approximately 5 % at most, more preferably 2 % at most, of the gypsum panel holes 14 are preferably equipped with sleeves 18. Fastening 5 means (not shown), such as screws or nails, can be introduced into the sleeves 18 so as to connect the sleeve 18 or the gypsum perforated panel 12 to the ceiling or wall (not shown) (or to corresponding profiled parts provided on the ceiling or wall). For 10 example, a head of the fastening means (not shown) can adjoin a front-side end 20 of the sleeve 18 or can be recessed within the sleeve 18. The sleeve 18 (see figures 4 and 5) may have an extension 21 at its front side end 20, said extension impairing sliding in the 15 direction of the rear side 11 or making this impossible. The sleeve 18 may have expansion elements and may be formed for example as an expansion anchor. Furthermore, the sleeves may have protrusions 22 over their outer periphery (see figure 5) so as to make 20 possible or improve a friction fit. The sleeve 18 may comprise a sleeve base 23 (shown in a dashed manner in figure 4), wherein the sleeve base 23 is arranged opposite the front-side end 20 of the 25 sleeve 18. The sleeve base 23 may also have a sleeve base hole 24. Alternatively, the sleeve base may also remain completely free. The sleeve 18 may also extend only over a specific 30 portion of the hole walls 19 (in contrast to figures 3 to 5), for example only up to at least 80 % of the extension of the hole walls 19, as measured from the first end 20 of the sleeve 18. 35 The gypsum panel 12 may have a fold on one or more of its sides so that the building panels meet for example and filling may not be necessary.
WO 2011/134506 - 14 - PCT/EP2010/055721 In particular, the building panel may be used in a coffered ceiling arrangement. The sleeve may be coated inwardly, for example by a 5 white paint, and may preferably terminate flush with the surface of the gypsum panel 12, which can improve the overall aesthetic appearance and the brightness of the space. A specific sleeve or a specific fastening device can be provided for each hole design. For 10 building panels which are perforated in a non-uniform manner, different sleeves can also be used in these building panels. For example, the holes may be provided as a straight line of round holes, a straight line of square holes or as offset round holes. 15 A hidden fastening is also possible, in particular by a fastening within the hole or a provision of the fastening perforated panel 13. 20 It should be noted at this juncture that all the above described parts and in particular the details illustrated in the drawings are claimed as being essential to the invention, both individually and in any combination. A person skilled in the art will be 25 familiar with modifications thereto.
