Abstract
The invention relates to the chromatographic purification of hemoglobin. The method for purifying hemoglobin from the raw solution containing the admixture of proteinaceous origin provides for the use of ion-exchange chromatography. The raw solution containing 0.1-20% hemoglobin. At the first stage, anion-exchanging column is used when the admixtures are more acidic than hemoglobin, or cation-exchanging column is used when the admixtures are more alkaline than hemoglobin. The continuous flow of the solution results first in the complete saturation of the column with hemoglobin and the admixtures with high affinity to the column, then the column is overloaded following the substitution of hemoglobin. At the second stage, the ion-exchanger alternative to that used at the first stage is employed. Again, upon the complete saturation and overloading of the column, hemoglobin is substituted.
