this one still holds a special place in my heart bc of how well-done the world building was even apart from the romance elements

great if u ignore the last chapter
what they did with masumi completely pissed me off there

another rlly sweet one that everyone knows by now bc of the anime! only complaint i have is w all the fujoshi female characters (thankfully mostly removed in the anime, they just bothered me bc it feels like they see gay ppl like zoo animals here 😭)

after watching the drama, i think it did better than the manga but
- really fluffy relationship between MLs
- one fujoshi character but she hasn't impacted the experience much and she's canon aroace in the drama

update after watching the anime and catching up on the manga:
they r literally living every gay person's dream ohmygod im so happy for them,, i loved seeing adachi's confidence develop the most

is extremely well-written story-wise, but if ur not a fan of obsessive characters it might be uncomfy for u near the end (might not the best written romance-wise amazing world building imo)

underrated gem! art is rlly pretty and story is very sweet

there was no synopsis when i read it so to briefly describe it: redhead girl (saki) takes piano lessons and meets black hair girl (kanon) on her way home one day, kanon transfers into her school and she finds out that she’s actually hearing-impaired, saki develops a crush on her (she already knows she likes women <3), she tries to befriend her even if kanon is adamant about not wanted to be treated special and their friendship develops as well as kanon fitting in at her school over the course of the manga :) also saki coincidentally happens to start taking new piano lessons under kanon’s mother lmao

i love how expressive and bold kanon is about her feelings and opinions, as far as i can tell the author never pushes her into any tragic stereotype just because she has a disability and lets her express both parts of her life where she can and can’t manage without other people needing to treat her differently

i love this one a lot! the art is so pretty
if u like Aono-kun or Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu, this is the GL version of that trope but more focused on comedy than horror/mystery

sweet and satisfying! pls give this one a shot

included it bc they're so damn cute, the nsfw scenes are pretty minimal compared to most others
also heavily enjoy it when there's another overarching plot apart from the romance

focus on acting and theatre, non-romance but queer MCs + implied neurodivergent :) it is explicitly queer just confirmed in the later chapters
many scenes are abstract (line between reality and hallucinations are blurred) but it’s still pretty interesting if u can keep up

the peak of simple queer high school romance me thinks

idk why i didn’t put it on the list earlier, perhaps bc ‘safe’ is not the best word to describe the series LOL but in terms of my criteria it still fits and i do have banana fish in this list

should be stated tho that the MCs will not have a super healthy relationship due to their trauma, this is more of a psychological kind of story with tiny glimpses of sweet moments

gets a little creepy at times but it adds a lot to the appeal, kokoro is very manphobic if that’s smth that could bother u lol

rlly cool fantasy setting with an underlying creepy mystery about why the island is the way it is, the romance is super sweet though it can get pretty sad at times

not classified as a GL because the fantasy plot is the main focus but very openly includes wlw romance between main characters and hints at mlm romance between side characters, also includes a lot of butch fem charas which i love!!

the author themselves on twitter said that basically every character is bisexual with a few who r homosexual so there’s ur confirmation pls read it
