Invigorating mysteries that are told episodically to further the main plot. Each contains a heavy dose of black comedy and occasional surrealism, all wrapped up in the work of two of the most skillful anime directors to date.

Both of the shows where done by Madhouse and have very intriguing art styles that are both phenomenally animated and well written. Though Tatami Galaxy is much more text heavy, they both share dark humor and a sense of surrealism throughout the shows and both share similar themes.
