Prelim review but aghhhhhh this one had potential. I was so prepared to love this based on the first couple chapters. It was heartwarming, sweet, and wholesome.
BUT THEN the cliches came... :c misunderstandings, love triangles, forced conflict, drunk stupidity, tsundere attitudes all of a sudden?? From both MCs?
It felt rushed at the start, but the MCs had pretty good chemistry and were very open and wholesome with each other right off the bat. female MC's drive to learn more about herself and to love herself more. Male MC was a bit over the top "pretty boy who has everything" type beat, but again I thought the chemistry was good, and that trope can be done well.
I thought they were gonna go down the route of "yes I am popular and handsome and can get whatever girl I want so I asked female MC out quickly and she turned me down which is going to make me reflect more on myself so I can be a better person and realize why I need to take love more seriosly." But it wasn't really like that. It started off that way, but became something weird.
It became like every other shoujo, not even josei anymore even though its set in college. I mean come on...the ex shows up and starts living with them?? Sigh. The MCs clearly have a thing for each other and are making out on the daily yet can't seem to muster the courage to say I like you let's go out?? It's just strange. It feels like a totally different story with totally different characters. And they both become tsunderes...which doesn't really make sense because they were very genuine and real at the start. They had numerous conversations of how important it is to not let life pass you by etc. but then they do the opposite.
I'm not sure where to go from here if it continues down this path it's not something I will continue
