Synopsis

Three days after his sister's death, he finally regained the will to move. In the aftermath of a goblin raid, a lone boy mourns the loss of his village, his family...

Five years later, that same boy visits a city on the frontier and becomes an adventurer. I personally think, that this prequeal is actually better than the Main Manga.
The Main reason is, that it's Art & Story catches the "Savage"-Style, that i like about the series, more than the other Goblin Slayer Manga did
I felt like every Manga from the Goblin Slayer series focussed on something diffrent
Goblin Slayer (Main) focusses on Character Development
Goblin Slayer Tsubanari no Daikatana focusses on Edgyness
Goblin Slayer Brand New Day focusses on Interpersonal things
And Goblin Slayer Year One focusses on Savageness
And the Savageness is the biggest reason why I love Goblin Slayer this much and also why it's better than the other stories

Yeah, more Goblin Slayer.

Story 7/10.

It's a prequel series about Goblin Slayer's past, along with all the other adventures you'll come across in the main Manga. I feel like this entire prequel should've been part of the main Manga, it's a way better introduction to the series and reveals a lot more about Goblin Slayer and what kind of struggles he went through to develop his skill in combat. It also does a great job focusing on the side characters and really fleshes them out throughout the manga.

Art 10/10.
