Synopsis

Roaming the halls of the all-boys Sanada North High School are three close comrades: the eccentric ringleader with a hyperactive imagination Hidenori, the passionate Yoshitake, and the rational and prudent Tadakuni. Their lives are filled with giant robots, true love, and intense drama... in their colorful imaginations, at least. In reality, they are just an everyday trio of ordinary guys trying to pass the time, but who said everyday life couldn't be interesting? Whether it's an intricate RPG reenactment or an unexpected romantic encounter on the riverbank at sunset, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is rife with bizarre yet hilariously relatable situations that are anything but mundane.

OH. MY. GOSH. I just finished Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou in three days, and I'm still reeling from the laughter coma. I've seen some wild anime in my time, but this one? It's the real MVP. I'm talking laugh-so-hard-you-snort-your-coffee-out-your-nose, cry-tears-of-joy, and clutch-your-belly-in-agony laughter.

The characters? FORGET ABOUT IT. They're all so ridiculously lovable! Tadakuni's straight-man reactions, Yoshitake's... well, Yoshitake's existence, and Hidenori's non-stop shenanigans? I'm dead. I mean, who wouldn't want to hang out with these goofballs?

And can we talk about how relatable it all is? I mean, who hasn't had those ridiculous conversations or gotten themselves into some absurd mess? It's like the creators bottled ...

Mixed Feelings
My introduction to this was once seeing clips of this on YouTube a long time ago. It involved clips of Yassan by the river. It seemed so full of potential based on these clips. A lot of my favorite anime are comedic slice of life manga adaptations like this one. The title encapsulates exactly the kind of thing I want out of an anime. The comedic in the mundane.

Finally getting around to the show it had a promising start. This seems like a nitpick but the outro really vibed me out a lot. It got to a point where I would stop the episode at ...

Maybe expecting this to be anything even similar to Nichijou was a big mistake, but I had hoped this anime would be something similar to it. Still, I think there's a lot of appeal in just reliving the high school days and the unique experiences it allowed us to have with friends. And I got none of that with this anime. For a final comparison to Nichijou, despite it being insanely more whacky and outlandish, I found it way more relatable than this anime.

Daily Life of High School Boys is really frustrating because it continues to be on the cusp of something fun and ...
