Jaguar Land Rover is delighted to announce the renaming of its Heritage business to Jaguar Land Rover Classic. The rebranded division will continue to provide cars, services, parts and experiences for Classic Jaguars and Land Rovers and their owners.

Jaguar Land Rover Classic can now accommodate full restorations of classic vehicles at its UK sites, as well as providing a repair and maintenance service for customers.

Jaguar Classic will continue to use the historic Browns Lane facility, where the six continuation Lightweight E-types were built and a newly developed Land Rover  Classic workshop at Solihull for the restoration of Land Rovers. Fully factory restored Jaguars and Land Rovers are now also available for purchase.

Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts supplies genuine parts for models whose range has been out of production for over a decade. 

The parts catalogue has over 30,000 individual and guaranteed parts, available to order from Jaguar Land Rover’s global retail network. Specialist technical advisors have extensive product knowledge and selected parts are available to order on the day for collection at local retailers.

In addition to cars, services and parts, the Classic business also offers customers the opportunity to experience a selection of Jaguar and Land Rover’s most iconic models with Classic Drives. This is complemented by the second season of the Jaguar Classic Challenge race series for pre-1966 Jaguar models, which commences on 2 May 2016 at Donington Race Circuit in the UK.

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive plc Financial Results for the Quarter ended June 30, 2015 - (figures as per IFRS) 

Jaguar Land Rover wholesales were 110,648 units and retails (including from China JV) for the quarter were 114,905 units.

Revenues for the quarter stood at GBP 5,002 million against GBP 5,353 million for the corresponding quarter last year. Operating profit (EBITDA) for the quarter stood at GBP 821 million at 16.4%, against GBP 1,087 million for the corresponding quarter last year. 

The financial performance in the quarter was lower than the strong corresponding quarter last year due to softer sales in China partially offset by strong performance in the UK, Europe and North America.

Land Rover maintained healthy sales in the quarter with Range Rover, Range Rover Sport Discovery and Defender all up compared to the corresponding quarter last year. Furthermore, the Discovery Sport performed well, already outselling the Freelander which it replaced. 

Evoque sales were lower due to the ramp up of localized production in China and softer market conditions there. Jaguar sales volumes were down as the sales of XF and XJ fell ahead of the all new lightweight XF and the refreshed XJ 16MY, on sale in autumn this year, partially offset by the successful introduction of the new Jaguar XE.

Profit before and after tax stood at GBP 638 million and GBP 492 million, respectively (GBP 924 million and GBP 693 million, respectively in the corresponding quarter last year).

Jaguar Land Rover Canada today reported July 2015 sales totaled 674 units, for a four per cent year-over-year increase and the best July ever.

"As more and more luxury automobile customers embrace Jaguar Land Rover products, sales continue to grow month after month, and July was no different," said Lindsay Duffield, President, Jaguar Land Rover Canada. "Land Rover LR4, Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar F-TYPE sales were particularly notable."

CANADIAN BRAND HIGHLIGHTS

Land Rover

This month was the best July ever for Land Rover sales with a total of 570 units and a seven per cent increase compared with the same period last year.  Sales leaders for the month were the Land Rover LR4 with 74 sales - an increase of 200 per cent over the same period last year, followed by the Range Rover Evoque with 191 units sold and a 22 per cent year-over-year increase.

Land Rover's 2015 model year line-up features five new models: The 240-hp turbocharged 2.0 litre Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque; the LR4, powered by a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 litre V6 engine; the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, available with either a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 liter V6 or 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrain and the 550-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 Range Rover Sport SVR.

For 2016 model year, Land Rover introduces the Td6 Diesel HSE to the Range Rover SWB and Range Rover Sport.  The 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine delivers effortless performance thanks to its 254-hp engine, while delivering exceptional fuel economy.

For the month of July, Jaguar sales reached 104 units, down 11 per cent from the same period last year.  The Jaguar F-TYPE achieved the third best sales month ever, with 60 sales and a 71 per cent increase year-over-year.

The 2015 model year Jaguar line-up features four models: The Jaguar XJ luxury sedan, powered by a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 litre V6 in all-wheel-drive, a 470-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 or a 550-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 in the XJR model. The Jaguar XF sports sedan powered by a 240-hp turbocharged four cylinder engine, a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 litre V6 in all-wheel-drive, a 510-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 in the XFR, and a 550-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 in the XFR-S. 

The F-TYPE Coupe is powered by a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 litre V6, a 380-hp supercharged 3.0 litre V6, or a 550-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 in the F-TYPE R Coupe.  The F-TYPE convertible is available with three engine variants: a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 litre V6, and a 380-hp supercharged 3.0 litre V6 or 495-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 in the F-TYPE S convertible.

New for the 2016 model year F-TYPE convertible is available with 550-hp supercharged 5.0 litre V8 in the F-TYPE V8 R.  With the 2016 model year Jaguar F-TYPE, Instinctive All Wheel Drive and manual transmission options are also available.

Earlier this year, Jaguar Land Rover introduced the second generation, new-from-the-ground-up 2016 model year Jaguar XF sedan.  Based on Jaguar's new aluminum-intensive architecture, the new XF will arrive in Canada in December 2015.  In 2016, the Jaguar lineup will expand with the addition of the Jaguar XE compact sports sedan and the F-PACE performance crossover.

USA SALES JULY - JAGUAR LAND ROVER - The group celebrates it's best July in a decade.

Jaguar Land Rover North America today reported July 2015 U.S. sales. Sales for both brands hit 6,253 units, a 7 percent increase from 5,830 units in July 2014.  Land Rover sales reached 5,011 units up 8 percent from 4,643 units in July 2014; Jaguar sales were 1,242 units, up 5 percent from 1,187 units in July 2014.

Year-to-date in 2015, Jaguar Land Rover U.S. sales hit 46,401 units, an increase of 15 percent over 2014. 

"We continued to see strong demand for both Jaguar and Land Rover brands this month, allowing us to hit our best July sales results since 2005 and our best Range Rover Evoque month ever," said Joe Eberhardt, President and CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America.

"We are pleased that through July of this year we have solid growth of 15 percent and are well set to launch multiple new products in the months ahead."

U.S. BRAND HIGHLIGHTS

Land Rover

Land Rover had its second best July retail month ever (2005 was the best ever) with 5,011 total units sold this month. Range Rover Evoque had its best sales month ever, with 1,497 sales, up 69 percent from 888 sales in July 2014.

Year to date 2015, Land Rover is at an all-time U.S. high of 37,323 sales, up 21 percent from 2014. 

Land Rover's 2015 model year line-up features five models: The 240-hp turbocharged 2.0 liter Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque; the LR4 powered by a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 liter V6 engine; the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, available with either a 340-hp supercharged 3.0 liter V6 or 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrain.

For 16 MY, Land Rover will add two special editions to the Range Rover Sport lineup, the Range Rover Sport HST, available in either a 3.0L Supercharged V6 380hp engine or a 5.0L Supercharged V8 510hp engine with added SVR aero package and the 550-hp Range Rover Sport SVR.

Jaguar

For Jaguar, sales increased 5 percent to 1,242 units. The volume and growth leader in July was the Jaguar XF, up 96 percent with 470 units sold vs. 240 in July 2014.

For the first half of 2015, Jaguar brand is down 4 percent to 9,078 units from 9,504 in 2014. Jaguar F-TYPE sales for the year have increased 15 percent to 2,577 units from 2,238 YTD 2014.

In 2015, the 16 MY Jaguar F-TYPE is newly available with options of all-wheel drive and a manual transmission and now comes standard with the best warranty and longest scheduled maintenance package of any luxury sports car in the market with five-years or 60,000 miles coverage.

Jaguar Land ROver issues statement in response to the Budget, and how it may impact on UK sales.

Jaguar Land Rover said premium automakers will be unfairly penalized by a new UK vehicle tax scheme that is expected to hit sales of large SUVs and big sedans.

Starting in 2017, drivers of cars with a list price above 40,000 pounds (56,000 euros) will have to pay a 310-pound supplement on top of the 140-pound standard annual vehicle tax.

Industry insiders said the tax hike will hit domestic demand for expensive cars. Besides JLR, the UK is home to high-end brands such as Bentley, Rolls-Royce, McLaren Automotive, Aston Martin, Lotus and Morgan.

"It sends a very negative message to the UK's premium automotive industry,” JLR said in a statement. "The UK should be proud of its premium car manufacturers, which support huge numbers of jobs and investment, not specifically penalize them."

The UK's auto industry association, the SMMT, said the new tax regime came as a "surprise and is of considerable concern."

The introduction of a surcharge on premium cars "risks undermining growth in UK manufacturing and exports," the lobby group said.

"British-built premium cars are in increasing demand at home and globally, and the industry helps to support almost 800,000 jobs in the UK. Leveling a punitive tax on these vehicles will almost certainly impact domestic demand,” SMMT CEO Mike Hawes said in a statement.

Colin Couchman, IHS Automotive's director for light vehicle sales forecasts, said buyers of large sedans and SUVs may now choose smaller vehicles, which typically that yield lower margins. This would affect the bottom line at a number of automakers. If the premium tax was applied today, it would affect 6 percent of vehicles sold in the country, Couchman said, quoting figures from analyst firm Polk.

Plug-ins to pay more

The government’s vehicle tax reforms also will strip away a key incentive to buy a low-CO2 vehicle.

Currently, cars that emit less than 100 grams of CO2 per kilometer are exempt from vehicle tax. Starting in April 2017, however, only vehicles that emit less than 50g/km of CO2 will be exempt from paying the 140-pound tax. Only electric cars and the most efficient plug-in hybrids will qualify for the tax break.

Today, the owner of a 56,545-pound BMW X5 plug-in hybrid SUV that produces 75g/km of CO2 pays no vehicle tax, but starting in 2017 that driver’s annual tax bill would rise to 450 pounds.

“The new regime will dis-incentivize the take up of low-emission vehicles,” the SMMT's Hawes said.

The extra money raised from the new tax regime will be used to improve the UK’s roads, the government said.

UK car sales reached their highest level ever in the first six months, hitting 1.37 million, according to SMMT figures. The country is the second-largest car market in Europe behind Germany.

Jaguar Land Rover North America today reported May 2015 U.S. sales. Sales for both brands hit 6,586 units, a 13 percent increase from 5,840 units in May 2014.  Land Rover sales reached 5,382 units up 19 percent from 4,536 units in May 2014; Jaguar sales were 1,204 units, down 8 percent from 1,304 units in May 2014.

Year-to-date in 2015, Jaguar Land Rover U.S. sales are up 17 percent from 2014. For the full year 2014, Jaguar Land Rover U.S. sales were up with 67,238 units sold in 2014 compared to 66,962 in 2013. For the full year 2014 the Land Rover brand established an all-time annual high for U.S. sales of 51,465.

Land Rover hit a new May high with 5,382 total units sold this month as both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport each had their best ever U.S. May sales. May was the fifth consecutive month in which Land Rover set a new monthly U.S. sales record.   

                               

The Range Rover Sport hit 1,674 units in May, up 12 percent from 1496 units in May, 2014.Range Rover hit 1,516 units in May, increasing 64 percent from 925 units in May, 2014. In its first full month of sales, the Discovery Sport hit 440 units.

For the full year 2014, Land Rover brand U.S. sales reached a new all-time high of 51,465 units. Full year sales were led by the brand volume leader Range Rover Sport with 17,897 sales up 12 percent; Range Rover with 12,830 sales up 5 percent and Range Rover Evoque with 12,440 sales up 9 percent.
