In this context, the author refers to the research carried out in 2018-2020 in the city of Slavuta. It is a small town located in the north of Khmelnytsky Oblast, which has not been significantly explored by researchers so far. The author refers to the concept of microhistory, presenting the legitimacy of treating a place as a basic structure through which it is possible to learn about complex and multifaceted structures. The hypothesis that has been verified was that each town, regardless of its size, has its own unique history, which is necessary to study and understand the history of a particular state as a whole, on which the process of forming national identity is based. In order to verify the hypothesis, the author used a number of research methods characteristic of the social sciences. He based the research process on the...

This is due to the complexity of processes taking place in the international arena. One aspect of the hybrid nature of conflicts is the issue of information warfare. The Ukrainian-Russian conflict, which has lasted since 2014, contains all the attributes of a hybrid conflict. Understanding and a thorough analysis of the relations between these countries require the atomization of the scope of the concept of hybrid war and its individual fragments. The authors of this article focus on the issue of information warfare carried out by the Russian Federation in relation to Ukraine and the issue of media literacy in the educational sphere as a tool aimed at counteracting this type of destructive policy by the Kremlin.
The region of Central and Eastern Europe is currently the object of interest of many politicians,... more The region of Central and Eastern Europe is currently the object of interest of many politicians, research, and analysis centers. This is mainly due to the ambiguous role that countries such as Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary play today in the geostrategic plans of world powers. In American geopolitical thought, this region is perceived as a 'buffer zone' between American interests on the one hand and Russian interests, or more and more often Chinese interests, on the other. Nevertheless, today, due to the tightening of cooperation between individual countries, the importance of this region is changing, causing their strategic interests to also be taken into account in the international arena. It is worth emphasizing, however, that from the perspective of the Polish state, an extremely important strategic aspect is getting to know the interests of neighbouring states that shape their internal and external policies. In this context, an invaluable item that has recently appeared on the Polish market is the scientific monograph by Łukasz Lewkowicz "The Russian Federation in the internal and foreign policy of the Slovak Republic (1993-2020)". The author presents an in-depth analysis of the Slovak political scene, with particular emphasis on the country's relationship with the Russian Federation. The thematic scope of the monograph is extremely topical as it concerns the process of shaping the internal and external policy of the Slovak Republic in the conditions of the hidden information war that has been going on for several years, which the Russian Federation is waging against the countries of the Central and Eastern Europe region. In this context, it is also important that the author "Ante Portas-Security Studies" 2020, No 2(15)

The roots of this phenomenon could be seen in the 1960s when the paradigm of science changed. A commonly held attitude to university education changed to instrumental. Pragmatic use of acquired knowledge has become a reference point for many learners. The idea of the university, which was formed at the beginning of the 19 th century in Germany by Wilhelm von Humboldt, and then in England by the rector of the Dublin University John Newman, is now collapsing. Despite the preoccupation of the main postulates with these differing visions of the functioning of the university, today the term "university spirit" whose main goal should be to seek the truth seems not to be relevant any more. Nowadays people become more pragmatic and mostly consider the university to be only the next level of his professional career. Nowadays, we have a race for a better future, but we should not forget that the university that determines this future is the driving force behind it.

A successive redefinition of the concept of "human" takes place, broadening it to axiological and epistemological aspects. Postmodern reflection on this issue boils down to creating a new term "posthuman," which today is the subject of research by scientists representing various perspectivesphilosophical, cosmological, anthropological, and cultural. Nevertheless, the topicality of this issue goes hand in hand with the increasingly emerging problem of extending human existential space. This possibility appears with the exit into the extra-terrestrial sphere. The cosmos becomes a place that today becomes the object of particular interest and exploration by man. Therefore, the author of the article presents a philosophical and cosmological perspective of the process of redefining the concept of "human" by implementing these considerations in the posthumanist and transhumanist discourse. It has been indicated the basic premises shaping this matter-technological, political, ideological, and economical. At the same time, he emphasizes that despite technological and scientific achievements, the anthropocentric model still occupies a central place in the scientific discourse, which boils down to the claim that man is the determinant and indicator of this process.

Derived from ancient time, various currents of understanding the concept of dialectics in the modern world are subject to redefinition and constitute the basis for the functioning of the sphere of interactions in the international arena. Today's discourse on the relationship between various entities boils down to the claim that hard power began to give way to soft power. The implementation of dialectic assumptions in the functional space of the soft power of the state makes it possible to conclude that, today, entities on the international stage, pursuing their particular interests, do not always use a narrative that is consistent with reality. Therefore, an important aspect of mutual interaction is making an objective analysis of phenomena and events that form the basis for establishing various types of relationships on the world stage.

Moscow's resurgent imperialist aspirations are being negated both by the United States and by the countries of the European Union. In the context of world events, Washington loses its hegemonic position in favor of the reviving powers, which Russia is also included to nowadays. The territory of the Ukrainian state is the area in which the active phase of rivalry between the West and the Russian Federation currently takes place. The Donbas war is an exemplification of the Kremlin's expansionist plans, because by destabilizing the integrity of Ukraine, Russia wants to restore control over this territory. This raises the fundamental issue concerning the subjectivity of Ukraine in the international arena. Therefore, will Ukraine be able to cope with the struggle of the great powers in the context of geopolitical clash, in which it is treated as the object of struggle? The multifaceted nature of this phenomenon is the basis of this article, which presents the situation of Ukraine in the context of the geopolitical rivalry between the West and the Russian Federation.

The author of this article, starting from this assumption, presents an analysis of the war between Russia and Ukraine from the cultural and anthropological perspective. He refers to the so-called the phenomenon of the “small-Russian nature” of the Ukrainian nation, which, starting from the times of the Russian Empire, influenced the perception of Ukrainians as being secondary to Russians. This situation didn’t change even after Ukraine regained its independence in 1991. Only the events on the Maidan in Kiev, the annexation of Crimea and the invasion of Donbas caused a change in cultural vectors. The challenge faced by the political and intellectual elites of Ukraine is to create a common language code that will be accepted and understood by members of the whole society. The postcolonial character of culture in this context is the platform on which the contemporary image of the Ukrainian state is created. Therefore, the idea of contemporary Ukraine should be based on the process of getting rid of the "postcolonial syndrome" and shaping the Ukrainian culture based on the traditions and attitudes of national culture. The state's position in this regard should be compatible and follow the common goal of real independence from the then colonizer. The Russian Federation, implementing its imperial policy towards Ukraine, effectively hinders the development of the Ukrainian cultural sphere, which is one of the priority state-building spaces. Therefore, Ukrainian society faces a very difficult task, because it should create an effective institutional and systemic base that will allow for nationwide development. The process of uniting the Ukrainian nation around the basic state-building idea should be based on a common language space, because language is the element that shapes the area of mutual social interactions. Ukraine in the conditions of competition, not only in the military context, but above all in the cultural context, should go in the direction of promoting its own position in every sphere of functioning, and especially in the cultural sphere.

The unipolar arrangement with the leading role of the United States, which was formed after the collapse of the Soviet Union, has been destroyed. Today, one of the countries that returns to the position of a superpower not only regional but also worldwide is the Russian Federation. The factor that testifies to the power of the Russian state is its military potential. In this context, the issue of human resources is an important aspect that deserves special attention. Russia treats the human factor as one of the priority elements of state development. Today, inside the Russian state, a pragmatic cultural tendency based on the idea of military-patriotic education of youth has been formed. In 2016, the all-Russian military-patriotic Yunarmia movement was created. On the scale of the Russian state, this is a phenomenon of security culture based on the education of patriotic attitudes and defence capabilities among the young generation of Russians. Yunarmia, through its direct connection with the Ministry of National Defence of the Russian Federation, provides a platform for the development of Russian military and thus the potential that translates into Russia's international power position.
