  1. Ewald Walterskirchen (2000): Declining Unemployment, but Steep Price Rise
The economic upswing continues, with the manufacturing index in April up by 12 percent from the year before. This development is due to a substantial stimulus of rising exports and investment activities. In accordance with the favourable economic situation, unemployment is declining noticeably, although employment growth has slowed down. The rate of inflation jumped to 2.7 percent in June, with a half percentage point being due to the increase of consumer taxes and 1 percentage point to high energy prices.

  3. Adeoye Bolade K. & Ani Ime F. & Adeyeye Joshua A. & Ngozi Elizabeth O. & Adebiyi Raheemat A. (2019): Quality Evaluation of Soycorn Yoghurt Fermented with Starter Culture and Corn Steep Water
This study aimed at producing yoghurt from corn and soybean milk using starter culture and corn steep water for fermentation and evaluating its qualities. Yoghurt was produced from three blends of corn milk and soymilk (70:30, 50:50, 30:70) and starter culture (Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus) and corn steep water were used for fermentation for 16 h at 36 oC respectively.

We refer to this model as the VRP with Steep Roads (VRP-SR), which is formulated as an integer linear program and solved heuristically.

  5. Henrik Kalisch & Francesco Lagona & Volker Roeber (2024): Sudden wave flooding on steep rock shores: a clear but hidden danger
It is shown that very steep coastal profiles can give rise to unexpectedly large wave events at the coast. ... The data computed by the Boussinesq-type model show that sea states with lower overall wave steepness favor higher run-up.

  6. Linan Chen (2021): Steep Points of Gaussian Free Fields in Any Dimension
We adopt a circle or sphere averaging regularization to study a log-correlated or polynomial-correlated GFF in any dimension and introduce the notion of “f-steep points” of the GFF for a certain test function f. Roughly speaking, the f-steep points of the GFF are locations where, when weighted by the function f, the “rate of change” of the regularized field becomes unusually large. ... We determine the Hausdorff dimension of the set consisting of f-steep points, from which not only can we recover the existing results on thick point sets for both log-correlated and polynomial-correlated GFFs, but we also obtain new results for exceptional sets that, to our best knowledge, have not been previously studied.

  8. Chen, Yunxiao & Lin, Chaojing & Zhang, Yilan & Liu, Jinfu & Yu, Daren (2024): Day-ahead load forecast based on Conv2D-GRU_SC aimed to adapt to steep changes in load
However, steep changes in load can cause significant deviations in load forecasting. In response to this issue, this article first selects input variables that can help the model identify steep changes in load based on Pearson correlation coefficient and the proposed “Steep change impact rate”. Then, Conv2D-Gate Recurrent Unit (Conv2D-GRU) model is built to fully extract steep changes information from inputs and achieve day-ahead load forecasting.

  10. Baojun Xu & Zinan Wang (2014): Phenolic Profiles and Antioxidant Activities of Typical Teas Marketed in China as Affected by Steeping Time and Temperature
The objectives of this study were to assess how steeping temperature and steeping time affect phenolics and antioxidant profiles of various categories of tea marketed in China. The total phenolics, total flavonoids, tannin, DPPH free radical scavenging capacity (DPPH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) of four typical teas (green tea, black tea, oolong tea, and white tea) steeped by different combinations of temperature and time were investigated by colorimetric assays. Results indicated that phenolics and antioxidants in tea water increased with the higher steeping temperature and/or longer steeping time in general. ... The optimal steeping conditions heavily rely on categories of tea and the targeted active substances.
