Auslandskomponente des Lebensmittelmarktes in Österreich

Abstract

Auf dem österreichischen Markt für Lebensmittel wirken Einflüsse aus dem Ausland, da Österreich als kleine, offene Volkswirtschaft in besonderem Maße mit internationalen Märkten verflochten ist. Während die Schweiz ähnlich stark in Handelsbeziehungen eingebunden ist, aber beträchtliche Handelsbarrieren für Agrargüter vorsieht, bedeutete der EU-Beitritt 1995 in Österreich eine Marktöffnung, von der die privaten Haushalte beträchtlich profitieren. In welchem Umfang die Vernetzung mit dem Ausland den österreichischen Lebensmittelmarkt beeinflusst, wird aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln mit unterschiedlichen Methoden quantifiziert. Demnach haben Preissignale aus dem Ausland großen Einfluss auf die Preise in Österreich, und ein großer Anteil von Produkten höherer Qualität am Warenkorb erhöht die durchschnittlichen Ausgaben. Wie eine detaillierte Auswertung der Versorgungsbilanz und der österreichischen Input-Outptut-Tabelle zeigt, ist der Auslandseinfluss auf die inländische Lebensmittelproduktion auch aufgrund von Futterimporten beträchtlich: Zusätzliche Ausgaben für Nahrungsmittel im Handel erhöhen die Wertschöpfung in der Sachgütererzeugung, in der Landwirtschaft und in anderen Sektoren durch direkte und indirekte Effekte. Der Anteil des Inlandes beträgt 71%, jener des Auslandes 29%.
