Kosten des Klimawandels ungleich verteilt: wirtschaftsschwache Bundesländer trifft es am härtesten

Abstract

Der Klimawandel ist kaum noch aufzuhalten, so dass auch in Deutschland immer häufiger mit extremen Klimaereignissen zu rechnen sein wird. Klimasimulationsmodellen zufolge sind die Auswirkungen regional jedoch sehr ungleich verteilt. So wird die Oberflächentemperatur zwar in nahezu allen Regionen Deutschlands stark zunehmen, besonders aber in Norddeutschland. Extreme Niederschläge in Herbst und Winter dürften in erster Linie in Mittel- und Südwestdeutschland auftreten, während sich in Ost- und Süddeutschland die Gefahr von Dürren durch den deutlichen Rückgang von Sommerniederschlägen erhöhen dürfte. Diese Klimaveränderungen verursachen Kosten, die sich in den kommenden 50 Jahren auf bis zu 800 Milliarden Euro kumulieren können. Dabei werden wirtschafts- und bevölkerungsstarke Bundesländer wie Bayern und Baden-Württemberg in absoluten Größen die höchsten wirtschaftlichen Schäden durch den Klimawandel erleiden. Die errechneten gesamten Kosten des Klimawandels in den kommenden 50 Jahren liegen für Baden-Württemberg bei 129 Milliarden Euro, gefolgt von Bayern mit 113 Milliarden Euro und Niedersachsen mit 89 Milliarden Euro. Aber auch und gerade wirtschaftsschwache Bundesländer leiden - gemessen an der Wirtschaftskraft - in besonderem Maße unter den Klimaveränderungen.
