Smino Returns With Vibrant New "Reverend" Music Video
The rapper heads to South Africa for his new visual.
Smino is back with a new music video for his August 2019 hit “Reverend”. The track was notably his first output after his breakthrough sophomore record NOIR. Since then, Smino has dropped “Tempo”, a Christmas-themed “High 4 Da Highladays” EP and formed a supergroup with Noname and Saba in Ghetto Sage for their first hit “Häagen Dazs”.
Smino travels to Alexandra Township, South Africa to interact with the locals, chill in a bathtub full of flowers, explore some caves and scope out the local scenery in the Topshotta-directed “Reverend” music video. The video highlights the colorful buildings and artwork throughout the neighborhood while Smino opens up the track with, “I halt, had to stop/ Had to look to my right/ I walked around the room, it was clear as Sprite/ Errbody ridin’ ain’t gone steer ya right/ Ya can’t help nobody ‘less your spirit right.”
