2d agoThat was unexpectedly expected or expectedly unexpected. It's not even close to the original switch reveal, it really said nothing about the console! Now we'll have to wait an eternity to get an insight 🥲

2d agoGuess the noise is gonna be a clap rather than a snap now.

2d agoSo we learned nothing new thanks to all the leaks and the vagueness of this intro, apart from what could be a first look at a new Mario Kart and now we have to wait until April?
Oh well, at least it's official now.
So how many leaks are we gonna see before April, ya think? =)

2d agoThe reveal of the original Switch was so cool, because of those bold, in your face, neon joycons. I don't want to sound negative, because I'm happy to see the reval, but wow, they are
really conservative with the design this time.

2d agoWow, I really enjoyed that!
I found the transformation of the original Switch into the Switch 2 a smart way to visually explain that it is a different system. I'm sure to avoid a similar confusion of Wii to Wii U.
Also the tease of what looked like a more open-world Mario Kart was great! If they really are going that direction with the franchise it is understandable why they gave us so many tracks for 8 Deluxe.

2d agoSo it's basically extending the life span of the switch lifecycle.
Kinda like with gameboy and gameboy color and 3DS and New 3DS

2d agoAt the risk of sounding like I'm being whiny and spoiled, I'm a little underwhelmed. That showed very little, and now we have to wait another 3 months before we get more details. Presumably. I was checking on the original Switch, and that reveal trailer showed nearly nothing, as well. However, at that time, we had never had a Switch, so seeing its different methods of use in various settings was pretty exciting. The Switch 2 trailer was like a hardware showcase without explaining anything. We got a glimpse of a Mario Kart with no gameplay footage or anything much to indicate anything new to the franchise. If I had known nothing from leaks, I would think it's bigger, the Joy-Con snap on instead of sliding, the kickstand is bigger and more adjustable... that's about it. I might have seen the new button, but it wasn't even highlighted. Also, I've just noticed that the button is entirely nondescript in all their media. It is just a blank, square button. Knowing about possible mouse functionality from the leaks, I could guess that is what they were hinting at in the trailer. However, from an ignorant perspective, it just looked like they sat in some new wrist strap attachments, and the sliding along was just a bit of fun style for the video. No other games were shown at all. It seemed like SMBW looked larger and sharper on the Switch 2, but that seems obvious. Yeah. That's it. They do seem to be following the same timeline as the first Switch - a full Direct 3 months after the initial teaser. So, if the timing is the same, then this would release in June 2025. Seems strange, but whatever. Although, I did also notice that the Switch 1 teaser gave a release month of March, which held true. Switch 2 is just scheduled for 2025. Part of me feels like there are a lot of things that are still unfinished for them. But I guess they have been manufacturing hardware, so maybe it's the games? Anyway, super excited. It's just that this feels a bit odd, since it doesn't seem like this will be the revolution that Switch 1 was, and therefore we could have done with more information right off the bat.
Also: I was also getting "clap" from the trailer. And yeah, no kidding about 3 more months of possible leaks. Wow.
Can't wait to preorder this! I hope they do something like with Alarmo, so I can have a better chance at getting one right away.
I agree, I thought the visual change from Switch 1 to Switch 2 was very effective.

2d agoOh, the URL of the website for Switch 2 still shows it as "successor." Is it possible that the name is not final? I guess we have a logo. Maybe it's nothing.

2d agoThe snapping of the Joy-Con is sort of aggressive in the trailer. I wonder about possible pinching of fingers or hands. I'm sure they thought of this though.

2d agoImagine how much more exciting this would have been without being ruined by leakers. With a date set for the Nintendo Direct, that gives us a few months to find the leakers and tar and feather them.
I'm glad the Switch 2 is "official" now, but I'm not satisfied. I wish we had a new feature to think about or a game to get hyped over--other than a vague Mario Kart game we knew we'd be getting anyway. Now we just have a new vacuum to be filled by more leaks, which I'm sure are on the way.
Yeah, but imagine watching that trailer with no knowledge of anything that has been leaked. It didn't show much of anything. We can speculate on things it may be teasing from "insider" information we have heard, but otherwise, yeah.
Totally.

2d agoWow! Looks great!
I like Nintendo enough I'd probably buy the next system day 1, whatever it is.
But I do have a feeling that now that the hybrid console concept was novel when the original Switch was released, Switch 2 is not going to sell as well now that the novelty isn't as strong.
Also, I'm not sure I *want* the console to be bigger. I think it was the perfect balance of portability and playability (especially the OLED), and I know some think the joycons are too small, but I would bet that is the minority.
Either way, I am sure that when Switch 2 launch sales are not the same or better than Switch 1 sales, game sites will be rushing to their keyboards to dub Switch 2 a failure, even when they never pushed that narrative for PS5 despite it tracking well below PS4.

2d agoDamn, initially I thought the Direct was February 4th.

2d agoI love the look and it's great to be officially excited 😁. I have theories. 1. the color under the joy stick is an led and customizable. 2. Mouse sensor is a thing, seemed to hint at it. 3. New Mario kart you can go off course for the first time in the series. The kart appears to have a rugged look to it.

1d agoWhoa, so THAT'S what the Switch 2 looks like?? (Everybody pretend you're suprised)

1d agoWhat was shown is that now there is a 2 behind the name and that the look is more or less unchanged. It might even look boring for my taste and Mario Kart does also kinda look like it did before. The thing is, that is probably exactly where Nintendo wants us to be, because from here on surprising things might be possible again. Because before this we were spoiled by our imagination. After this quick, short, cool and silent first look of almost nothing.. they probably have a whole lot of exciting stuff coming our way to get us warmed up again. Our wildest imaginations might now be tempered a bit after this and nice little surprising things are a possibility again.

1d agoHoping the direct will have some surprises.
I saw the american date for the direct and thought it was February, but it's a much longer wait 🥲
LED joysticks would be neat, but I can't really see it here. It looks very much like coloured plastic to match the side part.
I want this to be true! In a way this made me wonder what's next, like, we literally know nothing about it after watching this and I'm looking forward to knowing more, I want to be surprised.
