@tylertreat not sure if this is something you'd want. i bumped into the situation where i wanted to figure out wether my colleague already had the latest version (with Yosemite support) and a I figured you weren't doing any version tracking or release history at all. Eventually having something hardcoded in the binary that will let us map this roughly to a point in the commit history is already quite nice, isn't it? What do you think?

Yep, this is nice! I will try to cut a 1.0.0 release soon and from then on follow semantic versioning.
