Resource Unavailable (HTTP 503) on Metrics Scrape #1214

I'm trying to set up Promitor for a proof-of-concept, but it's failing at with a HTTP/503, resource temporarily unavailable.

The service principal used is heavily over-equipped on the permissions side with the Contributor role.
The same Tenant+Subscription+Service Principal configuration is working fine via azure_metrics_exporter and via the AzureMonitor REST API.

The error seems to occur regardless of the resource type used.
I've tested the following resource types so far:

Generic
VirtualMachine
NetworkInterface

I've also tested multiple tags of the Promitor Linux container image, with the same result:

1.6.1
2.0.0-preview-2-linux

I assume there is a configuration error on my end.

So you're saying you get a 503 when calling /metrics? Hm that's odd. Looks like it's bubbling the 503 from Azure AD 🤔

Calling /metrics works fine.
It returns a HTTP 200 with an empty body, since the metrics can't be scraped due to the "Resource temporarily unavailable" issue.

Is there any further information I could provide?
Are there any settings on service principal or tenant level which could cause this?

Oh that makes more sense then.

Did you try it with another resource (type) as well at a later point? I'm asking because it looks like a temporary issue on Microsofts side as we are just calling their API and they give the 503 to Promitor.

The SP should just have (Monitor) Reader so you should be good to go there.

I didn't really find the cause yet, but it seems to be some configuration on my linux box which is causing this behavior.
On my Windows box everything just works.
Doesn't really make much sense to me, but it is what it is.
