You might want to transition from a token-gated community to an open one for various reasons. For instance, you might want to grow your community by attracting new members, or perhaps you want to make your community more inclusive by removing the entry barrier.

!!! tip
You can use token-gated communities and channels separately. For example, you may want to set up an open Status Community but [restrict access to certain channels][set-up-a-token-gated-channel].

  • I think the first sentence could be confusing - we might want to explain this in slightly more detail. How about 'Token-gated communities can have open channels that are available to all members, and open communities can have token-gated channels'?
  • 'You may want to...' sounds as if you're giving advice - e.g. 'you may want to restrict access to channels with sensitive information to protect your community'. How about 'For example, you can set up and open Status Community but restrict access to certain channels'?

Thank @shamisem – Your proposal explains something different. My goal is to explain that a community can move from token-gated to open for several reasons, and your suggestion explains that you can mix token-gated and open communities and channels. These are two different things.

The 'mixing' part is what my admonition tries to clarify.

OK with this change 😄
