Building on #3, https://github.com/Robinlovelace/stats19-gisruk and the idea of a 'Local Road Safety Dashboard' or similar, we should write a paper on the importance of visualisation for good public communication of data on road safety. This is particularly important in this topic area because hasty visualisations can have negative impacts given the importance of perceived road safety on walking and cycling levels.

Great. I think we could definitely put something together on this, but also ranging into issues covered in the GISRUK talk as well: https://github.com/Robinlovelace/stats19-gisruk/blob/master/session_slides.pdf
So could be :

  • Vis for exploring/exposing multivariate spatiotemporal patterns : Mosaic plots (could do these spatially arranged), Upset plots and others?
  • Vis for representing road safety indicators : Generating and visually representing uncertainty estimates around parameters (simplest case could be bootstraps around KSI rates) -- have some examples of this.
