This project features a smart dustbin with an automatic waste compactor to reduce the volume of dry waste. It uses an N20 DC gear motor and linear actuator controlled by an Arduino. It includes an ultrasonic sensor and LCD display. Code and 3D printing files available.
The system works by measuring the distance of an object using the ultrasonic sensor. If the distance is less than 50cm, the system checks the moisture level of the waste using the moisture sensor. If the moisture level is above a certain threshold, the system opens the wet waste bin lid using the servo motor. If the moisture level is below the threshold, the system opens the dry waste bin lid using the servo motor.
