In your .xml call view

       android:id="@+id/animated_dots"
       android:layout_width="wrap_content"
       android:layout_height="wrap_content"

In .java or .kt don't forget to call stopAnimation():

override fun onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle?) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState)
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_main)
        textAndAnimationView = findViewById(R.id.animated_dots)
    }

override fun onStop() {
        super.onStop()
        textAndAnimationView.stopAnimation()
    }
