Troubleshooting Guide
bbPress
For bbPress-related issues, view this page:
https://github.com/r-a-y/bp-reply-by-email/wiki/bbPress
wpMandrill
There is a conflict with the wpMandrill plugin. If you want to use RBE, but still use Mandrill to send out email, follow these instructions:
https://github.com/r-a-y/bp-reply-by-email/issues/31#issuecomment-14404127
WP-SpamShield Anti-Spam
If you are using RBE in Inbound Mode with WP-SpamShield, Mandrill's webhook might fail to post back a response to the server:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/reply-by-email-not-working-with-mandrill#post-7806333
If you want to continue using WP-SpamShield with RBE in Inbound Mode, make sure WP-SpamShield's Disable anti-spam for miscellaneous forms option is checked.
If you've connected successfully, but still haven't seen your post, RBE comes equipped with a debug log.
You can view this log by navigating to /wp-content/bp-rbe-debug.log on your server.
Note down any errors you find and either post a new issue publicly or contact me privately here.
I'm using GMail and have entered my login credentials, but I am always seeing the "Reply By Email is currently NOT CONNECTED. Please refresh the page to initiate a connection."
notice on the RBE settings page
This issue is caused by GMail's increased security settings.
To fix this, you should use an app password on the settings page instead of your Gmail password. An app password can only be created when 2-step verification is enabled for your Google account.
To create an app password for use specifically with BP Reply By Email, read the following page for more info:

I replied to a RBE email, but it hasn't posted on my site yet
Here are some things to try:
(1) Does your site generate enough traffic?
Read this FAQ for more info.
(2) Did GMail mark your reply as spam?
If you're using GMail, see if GMail marked your reply email as spam. Login to GMail with the credentials you use in RBE and check the "Spam" folder.
If your reply email is in there, then that's the reason your reply was not posted onto the site.
(3) Are you on a shared host?
If you're on a shared host, you will not have the most optimal performance.
You should use Inbound Mode.
