Fix bug where python badge not showing
I don't see the point of having the file as a .rst instead of .md. The file had bugs in it anyways, so I fixed those and changed the file back to .md.

I fixed a couple of bugs in the README file
I decided that changing the file back to a markdown was the best option going forward so I migrated it and fixed the bugs.
