Note that the status of the protobuf is experimental, the JSON-Schema is canonical.

alignment with GA4GH

GA4GH is switching from Avro to protobuf, this will allow integration of phenopackets and GA4GH APIs.

Note that currently our protobuf does not define any methods for querying or accessing phenotypic information, it is purely about accessing fields in the model at the moment.
