Bug description

MIDI output is currently implemented in a strange way. Since FluidSynth (the synthesizer used by soundfonts) already works with MIDI events, the MIDI events are sent to MIDI output devices from there.
When you use Muse Sounds or VST instead, no MIDI events are sent.

I think this issue is already known, but I couldn't find it anywhere on GitHub.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Configure a MIDI output device.
  2. Choose Muse Sounds or VST instead of soundfont.
  3. Play something.

I've tried to fix this in #21874
I'm not sure whether it's a good solution, but it will probably give you some ideas...
