Microsoft PowerToys version

"0.60.0"

Running as admin

  • Yes

Area(s) with issue?

Image Resizer, PowerRename

Steps to reproduce

Install and enable PowerRename or ImageResizer. It will fail to install the tier1 context menu entries with the entry:
"error 0x80080204: While preparing to process the request, the system failed to register the windows.comServer extension due to the following error: The Appx package's manifest is invalid."

This seems to only occur in the dev channel builds like 25145.
Tested beta channel build 22621 and it's working there.

✔️ Expected Behavior

No response

❌ Actual Behavior

No response

Other Software

Windows 11 insiders dev channel build 25145

If this only happens with late dev builds, isn't it possible that this is a Windows-problem, in stead of a PowerToys problem? I mean, maybe the Windows build will be fixed later, so we don't have to?

Yes, it will be fixed, in a meanwhile, we have a workaround that's working for those versions already ;)
