I help to develop ideas as data science projects.
https://r4ds.had.co.nz/introduction.html
I estimate effort, manage project boards, gather/wrangle/analyze data, build CI/CD workflows, engineer software systems, test, report, build interactive applications, teach, and mentor.
My research background (PhD at UQ; postdoc at the Smithsonian) helps me to understand the people I help and the value I can add to them. I use design thinking, customized systems, and best practices to advance projects despite great uncertainty, pressing timelines, and resticted budget.
To make my work accessible to non-for-profit organizations, my tools are open source and free:
- OS: Ubuntu.
- Containers: Docker.
- Docker images: rocker.
- Terminal flavor: oh my zsh.
- Version control: git.
- Git host: GitHub.
- Git client for GitHub: gh CLI.
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions.
- Project management: GitHub projects.
- Programming language: R.
- Text editor/IDE: vim, RStudio.
- R packages: From r-lib, tidyverse, rstudio, and ropensci.
I'm now building 'tilt': A collection of R packages for banks to help SMEs emit less carbon (website, GitHub).
Before:
- I built 'r2dii': A collection of R packages for banks to analyze climate scenarios (website, CRAN).
- I built 'fgeo': A collection of R packages to analyze forest diversity and dynamics (website, CRAN).
