  • 5 June 1991 - PGP first release, PGP is an encryption program that provides cryptographic privacy and authentication for data communication. link

  • 6 June 2013 - NSA PRISM by Edward Snowden, Prism, which internal NSA documents claim gives the agency "direct access" to data held by Google, Facebook, Apple and other US internet giants.

  • 8 june 1949 - 1984 by George Orwell, The novel is set in the year 1984 when most of the world population have become victims of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance and propaganda. link

  • 21 September 1992 - Cypherpunks mailing list starts, it was a very active forum with technical discussion ranging over mathematics, cryptography, computer science, political and philosophical discussion, personal arguments and attacks, etc., with some spam thrown in. link
