To help with #24 (Doesn't work across splits), I added a function RecolorAllWords that re-applies all the existing highlights. After splitting a window, ":call RecolorAllWords()" makes the highlights the same in both windows.
I didn't give it a key binding. I use k for it, but double-leader is unusual.
I also didn't add to the docs, though I can do that if you like the changes.
