dired-hist
is a minor mode for Emacs that keeps track of visited dired buffers and lets you go back and forwards across them. This is similar to the facility provided in other Emacs major modes, such as Info, help and EWW.
To use it, bind dired-hist-go-back
and dired-hist-go-forward
to suitable keys and turn on dired-hist-mode
.
(require 'dired-hist)
(define-key dired-mode-map "l" #'dired-hist-go-back)
(define-key dired-mode-map "r" #'dired-hist-go-forward)
(dired-hist-mode 1)
l
and r
are the defaults for info-mode
, help-mode
and eww
, as well as for external packages like pdf-tools
.
The code is very simple (under 50 lines). There are no customization options yet.
