Global Superstore

Problem Statement

A company wants to gain insights into its sales performance and key metrics to improve operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. They seek to monitor total sales, quantity sold, delivery efficiency, and returned orders while analysing sales distribution by segment and market. Additionally, they aim to identify top customers, high-profit products, low-profit products, and regional sales patterns. The ability to filter data by selecting a specific year is also crucial for year-over-year analysis.

Steps followed

1. Data Collection and Preparation:

  • Load data into Power BI Desktop, dataset is a csv file.
  • Gathered comprehensive sales data including total sales amount, quantity sold, delivery days, returned orders, customer segmentation, market information, product profitability, and regional sales data.

2. Dashboard Creation:

  • Utilized a data visualization tool like Power BI to design the dashboard interface.

3. Visualization Design:

  • Implemented Card visuals to display KPIs: Total Sales, Total Quantity Sold, Average Delivery Days, and Returned Orders, providing quick snapshots of key metrics.

  • Created a Pie Chart to illustrate sales distribution by Segment, offering insights into the contribution of each segment to overall sales.

  • Constructed a Donut Chart to represent sales by Market, allowing for a visual comparison of sales performance across different markets.

  • Developed a Bar Chart to identify the top 10 customers based on sales volume, aiding in identifying key accounts and customer-centric strategies.

  • Created two separate Bar Charts:

    • One to highlight the top 5 Profit Products, showcasing products driving profitability.
    • Another to pinpoint the top 5 Loss Products, indicating areas for improvement or optimization.
  • Incorporated a Map Plot to visualize sales per Region, enabling geographic analysis of sales performance and regional trends.

4. Filter Implementation:

• Implemented a slicer or filter functionality to enable users to select a specific year, facilitating comparative analysis across different time periods.

1. Overall Performance Overview:

  • Total Sales and Quantity Sold metrics provide a comprehensive understanding of revenue and sales volume.
  • Average Delivery Days offer insights into the efficiency of logistics and order fulfilment processes.
  • Analysis of Returned Orders helps gauge customer satisfaction and identify areas for improvement in product quality or customer service.

  • The Pie Chart and Donut Chart illustrate sales distribution by Segment and Market respectively, highlighting areas of strength and opportunities for growth across different segments and markets.
