translate-service-macos

A nifty way of translating plain text using Google Translator and Apple Automator on MacOS.

How to use

  1. Install JSON Helper: http:https://www.mousedown.net/mouseware/JSONHelper.html
  2. Install Translate.workflow script via Automator.app
  3. Generate Google Translate API key from Google Cloud. Replace YOUR_GOOGLE_TRANSLATE_API_KEY with generated key.
  4. Set MacOS shortcut (optional): System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services > Translate (under Text header).
  5. Trigger Translate service by highlighting any text, right click > Services > Translate. Or Highlight text + shortcut.
