This configuration has been tested with Xubuntu 12.04.
To install the right (latest) version of i3, the dependencies, and create your machine-specific config file:
git clone [email protected]:jbohren/i3files.git ~/.i3
sudo .i3/bootstrap.bash
touch .i3/configs/$HOST.cfg
To run i3 via the wrapper script:
.i3/i3.zsh
.i3/i3.bash
To set i3 to autostart:
bootstrap_i3_xfce_autostart.bash
Build the panel plugin in panel
into debian packages with checkinstall
.
To get rid of xfdesktop:
- session and startup
- current session
- quit xfdesktop
This set of i3 config files and scripts enables the on-line generation of
config files depending on the machine's hostname. These additional config
files are stored in the configs
directory.
To create a new machine-specific config, create a file called $HOST.cfg
in the
configs
directory. These configuration options will be added in automatically
to the autogenerated config
file.
Notifications are handled by dunst. To install the dunst config file dunstrc
, run:
mkdir -p ~/.config/dunst
cd ~/.config/dunst
ln -s ~/.i3/dunstrc
