It's interesting, but after update to Android Oreo Mifare Classic begins to work on S8 :)

You should also update COMPATIBLE_DEVICES.md then.

This is indeed interesting. I will update the lists and unlock it in the play store. What exact version of the S8 do you have there?

Hi, the device is SM-G950F. We make an app for purchasing the transportation tickets on mifare classic cards - and now we see the increase of users with S8! :)

Hmpf. So there are different versions of the S8. The one of @freerider7777 works well and the one of @vdiravka does not work. However, both have the same model number.

The Google Play backend does allow me to unlock specific models of the S8. But not on their model name but on their codename. The following code names for the S8 are available:

dreamqltecmcc
dreamqltecan
dreamlteskt
dreamqlteue
dreamlte
SCV36
dreamlteks
SC-02J
dreamqltesq
dreamqltechn

If you are able to find out which is the codename of the device that works I can unlock it...

Has anyone looked into what chips & chipsets are on the S8 versions?
@ikarus23 if there's analytics, can you see various S8 versions in there?
Maybe privacy prevents G Analytics from detailed device reporting. But if the app already requests root, it could also look in /sys/... to 1. find chipset info, 2. show the user, 3. allow reporting in working/non-working.

A good starting point for /sys explorations: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/367329/list-all-components-of-an-arm-computer-in-linux

@freerider7777 can you share a list of devices that your users have found to be working?

@sesam The only information I have to distinguish between S8 devices in Google Play is the "codename" list above. Since MCT does not use root it is not easy to explore the system on which chip is used.

I added the Samsung Galaxy S7, S8 and Note8 to the list of compatible devices and made MCT available to them in the Play Store.

I hope the poor users of some bugged S8 and Note8 devices will receive their update soon so that they can use MCT as most other S8/Note8 users.
