As it is, one really cannot carry all that much, especially once one has all the necessary supplies just to survive.

I don't know how difficult it would be, but a backpack item that can be used to store additional items, but which reduces movement speed when carried would definitely be a logical type of item to have.

What about using the Might attribute to determine how much you are able to carry?

Some perks could also increase inventory space e.g "Packmule".

It depends on what kind of flavor is wanted for the game. From a realism point of view there's a limit to how much can be easily carried just by tucking it under one's belt or into a pocket. Eventually something specifically designed as a container become necessary. After that, using the character's Might attribute to put an upper limit on the number of items carried even with a container makes sense to me. Or possibly have the slowdown be related to number of items in the backpack divided by the Might attribute.

Something like a Packmule perk could let a character carry more items without a container, allowing them to haul more stuff around without risking losing their entire backpack by dropping it in lava or other mishaps.
