The WetHat Newsreader add-on for the Freeplane open source mind mapping and knowledge management application manages RSS news channels and news items as nodes in a mind map.

Note: The newsreader add-on is experimental! It has basic news channel reading and management functionality and it also has plenty of rough edges. If you like the idea of managing and reading news in Freeplane, you are very much welcome to submit feature requests and bugs.

The add-on provides basic news reading and management functionality such as:

• Subscribing to news channels
• Updating news channels
• Structural organization of news channels (as mind map nodes)
• Marking news items as read / unread
• Rollup calculation of the number of new (unread) items below a branch in the channel structure
• Metadata to support custom conditional styles

• Freeplane 1.5.20 or later
