This was completely broken. It would start on an invalid index meaning it would try looking at invalid memory, and fail to loop the 0th element. Fixing this lets us remove the second invocation of match_str for the default language.
This will let us add language codes that should use the same translation as others.
Just use the same translation as en_US.
