For Postal Employees. Article 8 max hours grievance calculator
Hello ^.^
If you're reading this, good job!
This program is designed to calculate the article 8 max hours violations for 12/60. The logic works perfectly, however as I am not a computer programmer by trade so it IS a little finnicky, depending on the user.
Please give google a try if you run into an issue, or feel free to send me a message. Anyway, here are the setup steps:
First, you will need to have python. All windows computers come with it native. You can search for it in the file explorer or access it from the run command. If you have a different OS you may need to install python.
Second, you will need two dependencies. Those are 'pandas' and 'openpyxl'. To get them open your command prompt and type
pip install pandas pip install openpyxl
Again, if you are on a MAC you're on your own. I have 0 experience with those machines. Google is your friend
Third, you need the file as a CSV from your management team. Get them to email it to you or load it on a flash drive. It's doable. If they can't figure it out, tell them they're dumb, and you'll need 5 more hours than anticipated to work through your duties
Finally, you need to have the CSV file and the python program in the same folder for it to work. Putting both onto your desktop is the easiest way.
Now you get to run the program
It will prompt you for the input filename. For me this looked like 'OAR 7.2.22.csv' If you don't include the extensions, no sweat.
The program will then prompt you for the output. Keep it classy please.
And that's it! you now have an excel file that you can load up into your facts sheet to grieve.
Once this is set up for you the whole process should take mayyyyybe 10 minutes, from asking your supervisor to loading into the grievance. If it's taking longer or you are getting held up, please shoot me a line
