This was first introduced back in 2008 and is still an issue (2020).

As stated above Eskom delibrately shutdown electrical power in certian areas of the country to 'save' power. This is set in Stages 1 - 8

Stage 1: ... 3 times over a four day period for two hours at a time, or 3 times over an eight day period for four hours at a time.

Stage 2: ... 6 times over a four day period for two hours at a time, or 6 times over an eight day period for four hours at a time

Stage 3: ... 9 times over a four day period for two hours at a time, or 9 times over an eight day period for four hours at a time.

Stage 4: ... 12 times over a four day period for two hours at a time, or 12 times over an eight day period for four hours at a time.
