We are the work group Computational Biology of the Institute of Medical Statistics and Computational Biology at the University of Cologne.

We focus primarily on research in the fields of RNA metabolism, single-cell omics and spatial transcriptomics, and statistical modelling and algorithms for high-dimensional life science data. We are part of the Cluster of Excellence for Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-Associated Diseases CECAD at the University of Cologne. We are involved in academic teaching mainly in the M.Sc. study courses Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural sciences, as well as the Interdisciplinary Program in the area of Health Sciences (IPHS) of the Faculty of Medicine.
