BASIC

BASIC, or Beginners' All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, is a family of high-level programming languages. It is one of the oldest programming languages still in use today, having being designed in 1963.

Most BASIC dialects are intended for serious programming, although there also exist several esoteric variants.
