[edit]Etymology 2
[edit]Probably related as etymology 1, as prepositions in Vietnamese are most often originally verbals.
The form vuối used to enjoy widespread usage in both Northern and Southern dialects, but is now completely obsolete. This form might be the diphthongized equivalent of vói (“to stretch out, to reach out”) mentioned above.
