Usage of the word tramp.
[edit]The meanings ‘homeless person’ or ‘foot traveller (usually hiking) is a global usage. However the meaning ‘promiscuous woman / slut / prostitute’ is only acceptable in American English (North American and Canada) and usually showing disapproval, according to Longman, Cambridge, Oxford etcetera dictionaries.
